This may have been discussed before but I can't find anything, if someone could link me to some threads it would be appreciated....if not read on

I am thinking of buying an XJ cherokee and need to know from other jeep owners what sort of work and money is involved in getting a stock job and turning it into something like the one in this photofile:///I:/Document/4X4/b537_1.JPG.

Also what other work needs to be done to gearbox, diffs etc to run 33s-35s and are the 2.5TD good motors or go the 4litre.

Thanks

Hey mate, have a look on AUSJEEPOFFROAD.COM (http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com) There is a huge amount of info there about this very subject.

My personal opinion is stick with the 4.0ltr as a couple of people have had to spend huge bucks fixing their diesels. But then again I'm a little biased ;)

Again more info on that at AJOR.

If you want pricing on the components speak to Wooders Garage. He is a mod on here and he is on there as well.

THis thread is an index to lots of info: Index to XJ Cherokee Modifications - www.ausjeepoffroad.com (http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64361)

for 33s you will need at least 4.5" lift and some guard trimming, for 35s 6"+ and trimming. You will also need a Slip yoke eliminator to fit a CV driveshaft with slipjoint to cope with increased angles on rear driveshaft, or you'll get driveline vibes. The Dana 35 rear diff isn't known for its strength, so be wary, may want a D44 upgrade (these arent cheap). Stick to the 4L.
