Why not replace it with the same type... What are you trying to achieve by putting another type on....???

mabey it has been on its way out for a long time, hence why it has been giving you problems......
If the vanes are worn then the pump has to work alot harder to keep the flowrate up... The thing is , it wont work any harder unless you put your right foot down to increase the shaft speed....
I know a few blokes with vitara's and sierra's that have no problems with the steering and run 31's with no problems....
Modifying mounts and trying to fit a bigger one is alot of stuffing around for virtually no benifit....
Personally I would go and get a recon pump and all should be fine

We ran our Feroza for some time with 31's and no issues on the standard power steering pump; plus there are a lot of 'off-road' only buggies and cut down vehicles around the place (here and overseas) based on Rocky's and Feroza's that are still using that 'stupid small' pump quite successfully with tyres a helluva lot bigger'n 31's!! I'd suggest that your pump has been pretty well stuffed for a long time, causing your issues, and that a reco or replacement will do what you want easily!
