Starter Motor Problem????

As I have mentioned in another thread I recently flooded my 100 series crusier after getting stuck in a bog whole.

Long story short, I am having a small problem with starting the truck now. Nothing major now but I assume things may get worse.

When I turn the key to start the truck you can hear a small click then nothing for a couple of seconds. After those couple of seconds it turns over and starts as normal. Why the delay in starting. It never did this before and will it get worse.

You don't mention which engine variant you have...

Your starter will have got wet, the water may have drained but the solenoid contacts will probably have a muddy residue over them, to although the solenoid moves current cannot flow to the motor.

Best best would be to remove and strip it, clean it up an dreplace before it sticks you up at the worst time.

I agree, dirt in it is stopping the starter solenoid fully moving across to bridge the contacts to the starter motor.
