How rare are 3L TD Surf/4-Runners with a manual gearbox?
I've seen a site that shows they do exist, but I haven't seen one yet, and I've been looking.

1993 Toyota Hilux Surf - all pics, specs, parts and prices (http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/toyota/hilux_surf/1993_8/)
Thats 93 models of the Surf. Granted that isn't an Australia site. What makes it a gen 3? There are a couple of options in there that say 1KZ-TE and MT.

The Surf had the 2L with 3L head and 1KZTE as far as diesels go. There is also some petrol versions.
If a Surf has a 3L, then it was a transplant and not factory.
The 3L came out after the 1KZ, by this time they had changed the production line from 2L to the 1KZ and going back to an inferior motor would not have made common sense.

i think he means 3L as in 3 LITRE, not the L series diesel engine.. (what a world of confussion toyota have caused by creating the L series hahaha)
so what i think he's after is the 1KZTE turbo I guess
