91/80 series Part Time 4wd

Hi All,

Just recently purchased 91 F/T cruiser and found out about this Part time 4wd to eliminate "backlash or freeplay" in regards to the transfer case.Apperently its common and as I noticed changing from 2nd to 3rd a Clunking noise.My research into this there is adaptor plates for the transfer case etc.....

Any feedback on this would be great or anyone installed Part time 4wd some info much appriciated.

mate my 80 was doing a similar thing found the cvs and drive plates were r.s totally rebuilt front end bad thumping clunking noise is gone

Nowdays it's cheaper to replace the CV's and drive plates than buy a part time kit.

Depends if you like the safety of having full time 4WD, or are happy to drive around on wet roads in 2WD. Any fuel saving is minimal and shouldn't be your primary reason for the conversion IMO.
