The nitro Stampede is 2wd only I think ?? They are still pretty quick, and I think come with a size 15 engine, but on dirt the 2wd makes them almost useless. If you can play gentle with the gas then it's not too bad, but it's a takes a while to get a hang of 2wd drive cars.
I've had a couple of nitro 2wd's and for stuffing around I really think 4wd is much more user friendly. The car you have shown above is as tough as they come. You could seriously jump that thing over your real 4wd all day long and chances are you wouldn't break anything.
where is the best place to get them in melbourne?
the HPI savage is an excellent "bashing" truck... biggest issue is trying to source parts. but they are becoming more common in the hobby shops..
have a look at mrcmodelparts.com

How much should i be paying overall for one of these then? I have been thinking about it for ages now and have decided this year i am going for it. Until now ive been all electric and recharging every 15 mins gets boring.

and lost some function in my left hand, now its to fiddely for me. i have all parts and manuals and instructions.
it needs a shaft for the rotosart but ill supply a new one.
i want to swap for some lightforce 240 xgt, you can get them for under $500 if you look.

Got pics? How hard is the work, keeping in mind i have never done anything to do with rc cars before... just playing.
Sounds a good idea might be a bit much for me though.

Twin engine conversion from Hot Bodies is an absolute pile of crap. Do yourself a favour and get a decent engine like the K4.6 and mod the hell out of it. I have 2 Savages, 1 basher and 1 racer which dominates at the track. It handles like a truggy but still pulls wheelies in 2nd gear and jumps like a monster truck. Be warned though, Savage's are notorious for having weak diffs so if you get something like a twin engine you will spend more time fixing it than you will driving it. If you want an awesome truck I would look at the Losi LST2. Stronger diffs and heaps of modding potential and it makes a great basher too.
