Where are people mounting air compressors in the vehicle. I just got an ARB unit and don't really want it under the bonnet. Any idea's, pics would be great!

Make up a bracket to support it in the rear quater panel.

That way its not gonna get wet even in the deeper creek crossings and if ur running lockers you wont get rust in that quater thanks to the diff oil that will get sprayed around every now and then.

If your pumping tires alot get some spare inlet and exhaust valves as they tend to get chewed out after a while being made of plastic (the old arb comps were anyway). You will know when their stuffed as the comp will be sucking but not blowing.... bad in compressor world anyway.

Having said that they arent a bad unit for occasional medium duty use.

I mount mine under the drivers seat .
It's out of the way then , & it's away from dust, dirt, heat & water of the engine bay .

I have the rear heater under the drivers seat and the jack under the passenger seat. Rear left quarter panel looks the go. Thanks guys.

Got any pics of the setup?

Gday mate i've got mine mounted in front of the master cylinder i guess for me its just easier having it mounted ready to go. In saying that it does have its downsides. 1:gets coverd in mud and dust
2:gets very hot in the engine bay before you even turn it on
3:my hose is'nt long enough to reach my caravan if needed(unhook it)
Did i say it was easier? believe it or not it just works better for me. A lot of people keep them in a box in the back of car or mount them in the back keeps them cleaner i guess and just hook to battery when needed personaly i have enough crap in the back of my car! i will try and post a pic of mine for you asap hope this helps in some way Cheers Steve

Would your 60 be the VX/Sahara to have the rear heater in that spot ?

I could get a pick of mine tomorrow , to fit there tho' it's mounted on it's side .

No, it's definately not a VX or Sahara. I'm pretty sure it's just a 'G' spec wagon.

Can anyone see any issues with mounting the compressor near to the left fire wall and running the air intake from within the cab to access cooler, cleaner air? Or if the compressor is already hot, then it won't make any difference?

Cheers

By the way, nice looking set up woolgoolgaoffroad. Wouldn't mind seeing a few more pics if you're happy to oblige.

I've had my ARB Air-compressors in both the 80Series & 100Series mounted this way for years with no problems .

Compressors do get hot , but I've never had a problem with them there affecting anything . Local ARB man says to his customers to put them there as well & he's got his in that spot on his 100Series .
So far so good there & out of the way .
