Has anybody fitted bigger tyre sizes on their disco series one without doing a lift? I have some 8"x16" rims with the right offset, and king springs that have lifted the car about 25mm from standard. But need to get 265x70R16 (or 32") to fit the rim. Will they fit or am I going to have to cut the wheel arches? Current tyres are about 30".
Also keen on BFG muddies but heard some stories of lower quality now days. Anyone running the current ones? What about procomp mud-terrains, is anyone using, what do you think? Have tried in the sand?

265/70/16 as I worked it out came to 30.60" of course depending on manufacturer. But a true 32x11.5 tire will rub on a disco 1. It should only be the lower rear of the rear guards that need trimming though.

I had a disco 1 myself. Take a look here at this tire fitment guide for discoverys. Disco Tire Fitting Guide (http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/tires.html)
As you can see anything over around 30" needs the lower rear of the rear guards to be cut. This type of cut is also known as a 'camel cut'

Mate I currently have a series one with 50mm Kings spring lift and 265/75/60 Mickey MTZ's, they catch the rear guard on full articulation but do fit everywhere else. I am about to fit 30mm coil spacers as this may fix it (when I get the time to pick them up and fit). Other issue is you have to adjust your steering stops, not hard at all.

The MTZ's are brilliant - best tyre I have fitted, I had BFG muddies before and will never have again after these. A little slippy on the bitumen in the wet but thats to be expected. 15000 k's on them and more than happy. Even converted a few mates with cruisers and patrols to go for them next time.

I just fitted 235/85/16's to mine, which is 32's in the old money and i had already trimmed the back for the 31/10.5/15's i used to run so they fit nicely on the back, btu they grabbed a bit at the front and that is with just a 50mm king spring lift. There is no way you will get 265/75/16's to fit without cutting. Matt

I can send the photo of them fitting if you'd like (mickeys MTZ's), 50mm king springs Bilstien long travel shocks, I have not once caught a guard at the front, rubbed the control arm before the adjustment was made but never touched a guard

Thanks for advice - much appreciated. Espec. tire guide. Love to see the photo of the MTZ's. Where are you getting the 30mm spacers - sounds like a good idea too? Do you know if they can fit with polyair-bags that I have in the rear?

There is a guy on ebay selling 30mm spacers for the disco 1 pretty good price. Check them out it might save you some dollars.
