Up on Ramps, It’s got about another 1-inch of articulation thou the RS9000’s Max out LOL. and my ramps arn't tall enoughf

Oh and it’s painfully obvious that I don’t know how to shrink the photos down.

The 2 other 4Bys

The Jeep has 5 inch lift, 33’s, DANA 40 Front axle from the U.S with Detroit True Trac and a Detroit Locker in the Rear.

The Rangie, Has King springs, 31s’ and No Sway bars, and the owner doesn’t mind panel damage or if he does it doesn’t show LOL.

In the Hills outside Perth> Maundering aria.

Well the Jeep just leaves most things for dead, but with the close to 10Grad he has dropped on it, so you would expect that.

I can basically get most places the Range Rover can, the IFS is obviously the thing that stopes it as it's so easy to lift a wheel with it; A locker is still in my mind for the front of the Explorer.

I got to go overseas for work so who knows with the $$ I make the X might Jest get that Front locker for Xmas, LOL

That was the first outing on with the new Steel Sill rails fitted, that second last Photo where I am behind the Rangie, about 50 metres parst that I dropped it on a rocky ledge going into some water and smashed the Chit out of the left sill rail, bent it in the centre and popped the side skirt out a bit, was not impressed as the track finished 30 metres just after that.

The Explorer keeps me from voiding the warranty on my XR6 Turbo, so it’s good in that respect as well LOL

Cheers.

Is that the sill I can see in pic on ramps? if so it musta been a bloody tight fit. I know what you mean about IFS as my last 3 4b's have had it but it does give a better ride for the 70 to 80% of the rest of the time.:)

Sill rails??> Yep those Black rectangular rails that sit just below the body they are made from 2.5mm thick RHS Steel that is bolted to the chassis.

what happend man, are you ok?

It was the Mrs & daughter & yes they're mostly alright,(rolled it 2 & 1/2 times) Mrs is still having some bad down below pains (hernia op 6mths ago) & is on a "waiting list" for an ultra sound. The 14yr old girl is fine, you know, young & bruises only last a day or two not like us older peoples.
Car is totalled & am still waiting on insurance (accident was on 23/01/08) but have got another X lined up but it could be another 2wks yet.
Thanks for the concern.:thumb:

It belongs to the Insurance company now but I am thinking of making an offer for it as all the running gear is OK.:D

Hi Men,

I have just bought a 96 XLT Xplorer for $4800 in Sydney. Needs a few things like handbrake pads rotors/pads and a bloody good tune up. I had a new Xplorer back in 96 that I bought new at Kalgoorlie when I worked in the mines. Was a great truck.
Now the olf gal I got has 235 000kms on the clock and needs a bit of work. There is a lack of power when taking off from the start. Hoping to find a GOOD mechanic in Sydney somewhere that can revive her. know any??? Ford are too bloody expensive.
Has any one had a tune up and at what cost?
I sold my 1991 4 Runner wgn (2.8 dsl 4 spd) for this.
Any one in sydney have some spares?
Anyway thought I would join the small list of owners.

Take care all,
Giffo

^MAF sensor and Lower intake manifold O-rings perhaps, also Spark plugs and leads use NGK leads and Iridum Plugs.

Steelo bad news about the X, Good to hear you have got another thou and everyone is all right.
Mine don't get much use these days,

Might sell Mine I think, need a work type 4WD Ute, thinking Hilux or Patrol ( God a Toyota i know) The POS 2.8 Diesel will be getting pulled out and replaced with a 289 or 302 V8, get some Ford Power into it.

Nothing wrong with the old 289's, plenty of low down grunt, pity about getting rid of it but you should get a reasonable price for it on the Forums (here or the Ford ones) if you put it in them.:D

Hey steelo, how did the rollover happen? Glad to hear Mrs and Daughter are OK, but what caused it to play roley poley?? And how did you end up with a replacement vehicle? Buy the wreck back and transfer all the good bits over, or what?

Hi mate, she got into some fishtails after leaving the tar & going onto the gravel & lost it sideways on some bad corrugations. Then flipped when sideways, twice, they were hanging upside down for 20min, she even rang me on her m/phone hanging there to let me know, telling me not to worry somebody (ambo's) will be there soon. To say I freaked would be putting it mildly & I was stuck 15k's away at home with no way to got there, but got it sorted out & I managed to get there as they were lifting her out of the 4b.
6 wks later & got insurance sorted, we had already started looking & as the Mrs really liked the X (& I don't mind them) we stayed with them & got another. I tried to get the susp bits off the old girl but it was already gone & at an auction house down in Brissy & nobody seemed to know where.
All I'm going to do with this one for a while is give it a bloody lift, I'd forgotten how low the old one was before I gave it just a 40mm lift. You wouldn't think that just 40mm could make that much difference but it does.
Thanks for the well wishes for the girls, I DO pass them along, it's my little niggle after she didn't let me live down taking the X for a swim & stuffing the 6 cd stacker up:p :p .
Thanks:D
