G'day I'm just wondering if anyone has had much experience with the latest jeep range particularly the Cherokee and the 4 door wrangler. I'm leaning more towards the 4 door because of the coils all round and the better off road ability. However the better half prefers the new Cherokee's because the are a bit smaller and "look prettier." I'm just after a bit of advise. Also the vehicle will be used to travel in and out from out bush which can get a bit wet at times.
Thanks
Matt

Either go for an old XJ which you will pick up cheap and make awesome wheelers but are not big on family or cargo space (2 small kids and luggage) or go the new jk (four door wrangler) but I would not be looking at a kj (the new cherokee) just my 2cnts

Current Cherokee's not that good if you want to go bush. Go older like mentioned above or for the new JK Wrangler.
See my site if you want more information about the older Cherokee XJ.

the KK cherokee will be a really good truck for space compared with the XJ and KJ - they will a very comfortable truck on road - I hope they fit them out better than the nitro though
it will be off road capable but have limited clearence - about 210mm same issues as the KJ - this is where th XJ comes into it own
the motors in the JK and the KK will be the same - the 3,8l v6 or the 2.8l crd
take them both for a drive and see which one you like
Unlike the the 4 others above me - the XJ range are now 10 year old trucks and you ge the 10 yo car problems with them - so they maybe cheap but .....
enjoy the search

Very true, but fixing and modding them is half the fun ;)
I have a KJ, only problem is the small boot space.
Depends how rough your treks are.
Awesome tourer and the CRD is the motor to get.
If you're in Sydney and want to check mine out, PM me.

Seen the new 4 door Wrangler in action. They are very capable in the sand, have enough room in them, more than a KJ Cherokee. My biggest concerns with them were the front approach angle thanks to what looks like a sand scoop and low clearence. But between the KJ Cherokee and 4 door Wrangler, I'd go the Wrangler.

Would you honestly keep the stock bumper anyway? That thing is horrible and who keeps a stock bumper if used for touring etc on any 4wd. They improve the approach angle and give you better protection on the JK so problem solved. ;)

i can give you my advise but it may be a little biased. i own a 1998 grand limited, my mother owns a 1998 cherokee limited and my friend owns a 2003 cherokee renegade. my pick is my grand limited due to the fact they have a much higher stock clearance height but the cab height is much lower than the 03 so they dont roll anywhere near as much. also there is so much extra cab space (for a jeep) comapred to the other models. but my best advise to you would be check out the car reviews from nrma, drive.com etc
and you will soon see that the star ratings have plummeted with the new models because their not built as tough and the interior is now to artificital looking(to plastic). hope this helps.
