New ford 2.4L diesel any good or bad exp

Greetings

Has anyone anything to say regarding the 2.4ltr four cyl common rail diesel which I am told came from ford transit van.

Are they a good long life motor, I ask on behalf of my Landy mad mate who took a test drive and is talking of trading in his 92 diesel landy p/van on a new landrover.

It seemed good value for around $53,000.

the only problem i experienced with the new diesel in a transit was the dmf (dual mass flywheel ) breaking up. the first symptom of this is the starter motor gets jammed up with the bits of flywheel which look like grey talcum powder!
