in a couple of months (after november 10) i can get my self my first car! ill be looking at something under 5 grand. if anyone knows of anything around melbourne that'll be for sale around that time, it'd be great if you could let me know. im after something reliable, reasonably good off raod, as good fuel ecomamy as i can get (but i want a 4B so i know that'll be hard) and definantly manual.

Sorry buddy cant help you much from WA but I would suggest you try a SWB mq patrol around 1995 model. You could pick up a reasonable petrol for under $5000 and they go like a shower of sh... SOme decent 32-33 inch rubber and maybe a 2 inch suspension lift and you will be showing the $50K rigs how it is done. If fuel economy is going to blow the petrol out, the 3.3 diesel was fairly quick for its age and if you could find the turbo diesel you would be laughing. Sold my Shorty 8 years ago and regretted itever since.

Under 5K & econical... Have to be a Sierra.
Only capable 4b I know of that returns a constant 10l per 100km & there are quite a few around for <5K
