Hey Grub,
I've got a Freestyle DX+ and I have ordered a tub liner an tonneau cover, I noticed you don't have the external rope rails like I've got, did they have to remove them for the cover or did it come like that from the factory?
Cheers,
Rick.

Hey Rick,

The DX & DX+ have external rope rails, but TheGrub's is an SDX model which has internal tie down points instead of the external rope rails.

Its the same with the Rangers, XL models have external rope rails, but the XLT has internal tie down points.

Cheers

Thanks Mimmo, I didn't realise you could get the Freestyle in SDX! Long story but I actually ordered a 2wd as that was all I needed/could afford but due to a computer mistake a 4wd was delivered! So I didn't take a lot of notice of the 4wd variants.
Cheers,
Rick.

Nah, I paid another $2K on top but still all up at $33K I reckon I got a bargain! They did throw in a set of the nice rubber floor mats too.
BTW it's Titanium Silver with ABS, tub liner & tonneau. Should be getting the TJM nudge bar and side steps fitted this Friday, I'll post some picks when it's all done.
Cheers,
Rick.

G'day all, I've got a Titanium Grey SDX also and I think it is Bloody Terrific. I've added a dual Battery set up, UHF and Spotties and a hard cover for the tub. In the process of welding up a canopy for the tub as there just isn't enough room. Also waiting for Ironman to get their butts into gear with their Bull Bar for the BT-50...I just can't justify paying for an ARB when the Ironman is half the price.

can i ask why you guys went the bt-50 over the ranger as from my quick look the standard inclusions look better on the ford. i'm looking at the dx/xl model as i don't see the extra $$ value in the top-of-line. maybe thats why the ford looks a better deal.

Sorry for the late posting of these pics.

Anyway attached are pics of my BT-50 after the following additions. OME suspension upgrade. ARB winch bar and Magnum winch. Lightforce XGT spotlights. Nokia CK-7W handsfree kit a RFI external mobile aerial and a Force mobile phone holder/charger. A scangaugeII.

The picture you see of a wiring loom is an Autoleads loom for the BT-50. I got this sent over from the UK cost about $100 however it plugs straight into the nokia handsfree kit and the BT-50 factory radio plugs without any wiring. It powers the mobile phone kit from the vehicle power and mutes the radio/cd player whenever you get a call/sms it also uses the vehicles front speakers when you receive a call. Works very well. If you want any more info let me know.

Also for anyone thinking of put Lightforce XGT on the ARB bar to fit them on I had to reverse the mounts they come with and then they only just fit. One spotlight is at the exact height however the other one needs to go back very slight and it cant because it is pushed up against the bar on the top so I will need to chop some off the mount i think.

Next for me is a roof console for my UHF and a dual battery system...I have a tray installed but thats it so far haha.

J,

I'm based in Carnarvon, WA a small town about 800km north of Perth on the coast. Plenty of good off roading up here :)

I didn't sell the Mazda bullbar because I didn't pay for it! They put it on by mistake and Mazda picked it up from ARB when the new bar went on.

I have a GME TX3440 uhf like you and a GME AE4018K1 aerial which is 4.5db gain. I wanted an allrounder aerial for flat and hilly terrain and an aerial that wasn't to tall so you cant drive under carports etc. This aerial is a good all rounder thats why I got it. Look at Prestige Communication on the web they have an excellent online store with very competive prices based in Perth and free delivery on a lot of items anywhere in Australia!

I do however have a problem with my GME TX3440 uhf. I bought it off ebay about a year ago and only just tried to use it. It doesn't work because the hand piece is for a TX3440 but the main part is for a TX3420!!! Just sent of an email to the store on ebay I got it from so I'll see what happens.

I'm off overseas in week and when I get back I can start spending again on the car. I hope to have the dual battery system in before the end of the year and the roof console and uhf radio.

Hey Grub, how is the fit between the bull bar and the bumper bar? I have the Mazda bullbar (regret fitting it for various reasons) and I thought that they may have chopped the bumper bar too high for the ARB bar. I really wished I had got the ARB bar but the Mazda one was thrown in when doing the deal. May be one day I will get a real Bull bar!!

BT man im with you wish i got and arb bar, I checked the bar with arb and it looks fine for the bumber cut, I think from memeory that they have to cut more off anyway. I just trying to get an order of bits that i need, tyres and lift are next on the list, then lights and then maybe arb bullbar and winch.

Mazda fitted a bullbar to mine by mistake too  they just ended up swaping it with their demo's bar a few weeks later...

btw, your bt is looking great!

Ive just finished my dual battery, used it to run camp lights a few weekends ago and it all worked perfectly. Im really glad i did it.

Look's good Grub.
Did you take both the plastic spacers of the bottom of the XGT's, there is two on each light so this might give you a bit more room.

Might be up that way around xmas, Take the kids to Denham and have a look around.

I like the look of the ARB bar in your previous post Grub - I think thats what I will get for mine. Enjoy Carnarvon - I lived there from 1980 - 1996 and was out 4WDing at every opportunity. Plenty of variety with all the remote coastal spots and the inland areas as well (Kennedy Ranges etc)
