Good day!
Has anyone any information on the location on the engine of the Alternator? Is it mounted in the "V" of the V8 or is it elsewhere?

On the 1VD-FTV in the new 7* series, the alternator is mounted as low as it possibly could be, it's on the drivers side but very low. Haven't seen the 200 yet.
So low they have even put a splash plate under it to keep the mud in ;)

If this is so that the alternator is mounted 'low" on the engine, then the use of this vehicle and the V8 Ute/Troopie in serious off road river crossings would be now questionable.
There are ever increasing demands on electrics/electronics on vehicles so is this vehicle moving further away from its traditional uses.

Clean water!!
Therefore with the huge loads on modern day alternators I would shudder to think what a repleacement alternator would cost outback!
I get the distinct impression that here is another example of a manufacturer transferring the responsibilty of a bad design outcome onto the consumer - that is they couldn't care less after it leaves the production line.
