I have searched the threads but no luck so far, I have fuel leaking from the block side of the fuel/injector pump on my 1HZ diesel. It appears to be coming from what the manual calls a timing cover plate that is fixed by two allen key set screws and sealed by an O ring. My hands are too big to fit down the side of the engine and about the only way I can see to replace the 20 cent O ring is to pull the pump off. (big job according to the manual). I have no fear of doing it, just that it will take some time. Does anyone know of an easier way to get in there, special tool etc.

Thanks Andrew

The only thing I can suggest is to undo the bolts on the flange and rotate the pump as far as possible.
You maybe able to to tilt it enough to work on the plate.
Note the position of the timing marks before you start.

Sounds about the same problem I had a few years ago. Got some bad fuel and it chewed out the seal and was leaking like a seive.
I was able to remove the top plate after removing the fuel cut solenoid, but was scared that I'd stuff something up. I took it to Hi-Tech Diesel in Adelaide and they replaced the seal and rebushed the main pivot pin for the throttle. They commonly wear out.
The whole job only set me back $150, and I've still got the free keyring.
This info may or may not help
