hey guys,
well firstly at the moment ive got my 84 extra cab hilux with a 3" lift kit and a 3" of body lift all engineered and currently running 35 x10.5 BFG muddies but i want to change down to some smaller tires but unsure on whether 31's or 32's would be a better option, i dont drive heaps on the road and play mostly up here in the high country. It currently has a stock gearing and only the petrol engine.
ive been recommended/looking at:

the new kumho KL 71 in a 31x 10.5
simex cetipede 31.x10.5 or 32x9.5 also ava in Jungle trekker 2
motorway Mongrel 32x10.5

any other suggestions/ ideas or experience ive read a few reviews around here and mixed words.

Why are you going smaller?? With that much lift itll look ridiculous and you will lose some diff clearance among other things. Why not just change your diff ratios and keep the 35s???

hm...where would be the best place to find out about what the stock ratio is and what gearing would be more approiate, and how would that effect the engine? it was more for RWC but seems its going to be alot easier to borrow a set and wack these back on and look into changing the gearing.

can you tell me abit more boof?

Yeh mate under the bonnet on your vin plate you will see a trans/axle code the first few letters or numbers will be your gearbox code ie G52, W56 etc the next group of numbers are what you want. Get them and go here Toyota Differential Identification - Toyota at Off-Road.com (http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/other/4_axles.html)

IMO if its 4.3 then go to 4.88 or if its 4.1 go to 4.56 etc. By changing the ratios you will get back your off the line power and also get back your offroad low range which you are no doubt losing as well.
