Any one know if there are any Diesel Conversion Kits available for the late 90's Wranglers???
G'day all,
I am looking at options for my next 4x4 and am hoping to buy a Wrangler with a dying/dead motor (if I can find) and install a Turbo diesel in its place...
Does anyone know of anyone who has done this?
Are there any Diesel Conversion kits available on the market? (I've looked but can't find any)
Thanks,

Diesels aren't very populor in America because of there emission laws in alot of the states. There isn't much of a market for diesel conversions there as they are too difficult to be legal.
Gonna have to be a custom fit if you want a diesel in a TJ.
I've never heard of it before.
Luke.

Fair enough...
Does anyone know what would be a good (cheap and readily available) diesel engine to fit a TJ?
Also, who in SA or Australia might machine/engineer the build?

As all Australian TJs use the 4.0 six, you may have trouble finding one with a dead engine. Might be old fashioned, but they just keep going forever.
BTW, you can buy a LOOOOOOOT of petrol for what it would cost for an engine conversion......

As above and if you did you sums you would find you could buy a all new JK Wrangler Diesel for the same money!

Fair enough - Is the JK diesel a reliable and proven one?

If you are still keen on the diesel conversion, talk to Peter @ Alltrac 4x4 Even if he can't or doesn't want to do it for you, he'll know who to see and how to go about it! Alltrac is at 305 South Road, Mile End SA and I just can't remember the phone # and am not currently in a position to get it or even the email address! They DO have a website too, but can't remember exactly what. Do a search on Alltrac and it's sure to come up!
Cheers!

i sometimes think about this aswel as my tj is thirsty 270k to a tank
a turbo diesel would get better range . a diesel tj would be pretty
unique .
i say go for it and make a thread of it in the buildups section

I have seen a Bronco with a Dodge Ram cummins in it. Look up some American cummins sites. They convert anything.
Good luck.
