Hi, my name is Shaun, I am 10 years old and I have just bought my first 4wd, a Suzuki Seirra SJ40. I saved all my pocket money and Birthday money to buy it.http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/shed/global_includes/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/teeth_smile.gif
Can Anyone help me with information, parts, mods, ideas?????http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/shed/global_includes/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/lightbulb.gif( i'd like tomake it a soft top). It needs a bit of work & i would like to do it up so its better then dad's Hilux.
If anyone has got any spare parts they want to get rid of please leave a message.
Look out worldhttp://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/shed/global_includes/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/devil_smile.gif
Dad is assisting me with the build, as he is letting me use his tools and shed.:truck:

Good to see kids catching the bug early. Shaun, I take it's a hardtop, if you really want a soft top wait around and buy a softtop body, much easier. AS for parts, keep checking the for sale sections are buy things that are cheap, you got heaps of time. Do lots of search and find out how you want to set it up before you commit to anything.

I wish I was you!!!!!!! When I was 10 I wanted a 4wd. I was told NO. I had to live with a 3 cylinder diesel tractor instead. I still lifted tyres and got bogged.
Now I'm nearly 18 and own my maverick and I'm learning all the ins and outs about 4wding, but I wish I could have learn't at your age, you are very lucky. I would give you parts and help but I have nothing that would help you.
PUT YOUR ZOOK IN THE 4wdmonthly shed. I reckon it will get 10/10.

13-11-2007, 03:12 PM
that is so cool that a 10 year old is doing this and top marks to dad for getting on board.
I'll have a look around my shed for any bits and pieces I may have lying around after I sold my Sierra.
When taking the body off look out for all the little earth wires etc that seem to be hidden away. also the fuel lines and brake lines have a strage habit of being zip tied by previous owners onto strange things.
grimbo
13-11-2007, 03:16 PM
I also would suggest investing in a decent seat and a harness for the young fella. If he is going to be doing some driving etc on private propety then you want to make sure he is safe.
as to mods I reckon keep t nice and simple to begin with. get some 2nd hand mud tyres in a 30" size, some 2nd hand springs even some original spec sprinsg that someone has upgraded from and put a 2" body lift in to clear the tyres.
GRPABT1
13-11-2007, 06:34 PM

grimbo
21-11-2007, 05:41 PM
the turbo 660 is a great engine in a Sierra. We had a guy in our club swap one from a Cappucino into his Sierra to replace his dodgy 1.3. Awesome engine combined with his gearing and 34" tyres
rustyzook
21-11-2007, 05:44 PM
yeah i want one cause i recon i could get around the "NO turbo's for p'platers so we can pu$$y them up" law cause its only a 660 in a sierra lol

Sweeet. Now all you have to do is cut the springs and dump it on it's arse. Maybe instal a phat sound system and re-do the interior, and possibly go for a blue pearl purple respray!
wait, 4wd forum..... scratch that, reverse it :p ;)

I admire your use of sarcasm. This is not just about 4wding. That why people sell parts etc.
Magnat
25-11-2007, 10:17 AM
welchy24... Most people buy a 4x4 to go 4x4ing...
Yourself would have to admit, that a 4 inch tip is a little ricey?
The Extractors, Sure they are a great Idea, they have a function to release prescious kw from the constricted Headers normally fitted to the Suzuki motors but a 4 inch tip is gonna cause a head ache not only to keep clean, but when doing river crossings it opens up a clean path for water to enter the exhaust and rust it out...
So I can see why Soul Smith went with the Sarcasm..
If you don't intend on going 4wding and just gonna keep it for a black top runnabout then the mods you have done are cool..
welchy24
25-11-2007, 10:27 AM
LOL yeh well the muffler was only $50 thats why i got it and my mate whos a machanic said it will go good. The extractors i put on give it like 20% more power than b4 they were on.
I havent been 4wding yet because i havent saved the money for muddy's and bullbar etc just equipment i will need to go.
PS i know the 4 inch tip thing was over the top, but it is qwit funny :truck::waycool:
It is mostly gunna be a runaround town car but i will go 4wding sometimes but not often cause i am still at school

I took the engine out, this week, wish dad would help instead of pointing, some of these bolts are so tight.
Welchy24, cool Zuk, would love some more photos of engine setup looks good, love the extractors, dad want to put a 2inch stainless exhaust on mine, he is making some stainless rock sliders, bullbar, and rear bar, should be nice and shinny:waycool: . he put blue neon inside my zuk, well it a fluro wrapped in blue clear plastic.
I want to fit the turbo to 1300 but will have to look for 4cylinder turbo manifold, as the 660 is only a three cylinder.

Prawn10 i do recommend getting some extractors. There is a guy on ebay who sells them cheep just sear for " Suzuki Sierra" and you will find them. They definalty give it alot more power and pickup. There is extractors for both 1300 CC and 1000CC
Nice pics by the way

Yeah that's probably a good idea, at least give the oil a good flush and re-fill and give it a good dousing with the carby clean in all the ports and intake.

well not much has been happenin, as dad has been workin to much:drink: , says he is busy, hope to remove the top soon, we went to suzisport at springwood, brissy and they have a 2" spring and shock lift kit for the suzi for $850 complete, so saving for that, dad said if i can save for suspension he would shout me a gearbox and short shafts, which would give me the complete running gear, and with new suspension, will be awesome, suzi the ultimate......:waycool: , almost there, only need a little more, and done, will have to sell everythin, maybe my dad will fetch a few bucks, anyone interested????? oops need him to help with rebuild, bummer.

Hey Mate, Great work, your a lucky man. I had to wait till I was 32 for my 1st zuk(boo Hoo). Late bloomer I suppose.
Mines in the garage in half a million pieces at the moment waiting for me to get off my arse and finish it (anybody giving away a free mig welder BTW? lol).
Let me know what bits you need, I may have some things lying around.
Keep up the good work. Good idea to keep ya dad around (till your finished it away), he'll be good for loosening the tight bolts and lifting heavy things.
Cheers

unlucky you had to wait so long for a great no excellent car/4wd, do you have a 5 spped 1.3 gearbox that you dont need:D as i so need one of those, GRPABT1 was so great to give me a 1.3 engine and now need a gearbox and short shaft to suit. trying to get dad to take my zuk to my great uncle's property at stanthorpe so i can bash around, but dad says "It dont got a motor" so guess we not going. let me now what spares you have, doing good so far, as most parts have been salvageable so far.
as for lifting heavy thing found grandpa's block n tackle.
