Today i saw a smart arse in a Merc do something really annoying
Ten cars back at the lights, the lights turn green, everyone takes off except him. He sits there being a DH holding about the 20 cars up untill the lights turn orange and he makes it through.
Just wondering what everyone would do in this situation
A. Put your bullbar to good use
B. Stand on the horn with spotlights ablaze
C. Get out and ask what the hell he is doing
D. Try to pull out with the other flowing traffic and keep driving
Personally id like to put the bullbar to good use, but then id get in trouble :(

give him a s******d of horn and spotlights, then pull right up behind him (like 20 centimetres) stick the clutch in and give the 3Y some, then i'd try and get infront of him and i'd slow right down to about 30 kph. Real mature i know...
Horn and spotties, then drive past and yell shit at him.
but what a bloody loser. WTF do something like that??? he gets nothing out of it, except a whole bunch of people who wouldnt care if his car got cleaned up by a bus.

I would ask did he do it deliberately or was he just distracted, stuck in neutral etc.
Annoying either way but we all make mistakes. Maybe a polite toot on the horn to "wake him up" and we'd all be on our way and no road rage.
Just a thought.

yeah you should have hit him with your bullbar whilst honking the horn, flashing your spotlights and swearing at him. While your at you might as well get out and give him a kicking too.
That is just the behaviour that fuels the whole anti 4WD sentiment out there already.
Maybe his car had stalled, maybe he was trying to get it started. Maybe you should take a chill pill, I know I'd rather put up with someone sitting there than an idiot hitting me with their bullbar, honking their horn and swearing at me
sometimes you drift off in thought about something...... i know i have done it before, as have lots of other people..... it is rather embarassing :-[ Just because he drives a Merc, doesn't mean he has had an attitude by-pass.....

Hey, I never said i did anything to him, i just said i saw him doing it. And no he wasnt stalled or taking a chill pill. He was being annoying, you could tell by the expression on his face and the cheeky looks he gave in the rear-vision mirror to those behind

I've had people do that to me, and that doesn't bother me in the slightest.
As for the original question:
Simply follow the rules, and always give people benefit of the doubt. We all make mistakes.
However, should the other person be "deliberately" trying to annoy you.., pull the brick out from under your seat and gently tap on their window. ;D

The joys of city living. ;D ;D
But really why bother doing anything. He is possibly trying to annoy the bloke behind him who has been sitting on his backside for the last 5ks.
It amazes me when we go to a city to see the idiots in their 4wds flashing their spotties at people, like its supposed to intimidate people.
I drove a truck aroud Sydney for quite a few years and mate I loved it, the bigger the traffic jam the better. Because it took me longer to get back to the depot. More overtime for me. :)

Why bother, you have to remodel your car, if he is a merc driver if something happens to it he will just by another one. So you lose and he wins. There are a lot of people like that especially old farts going around the round abouts the wrong way....... they say P platers are bad.
ALL OLD PEOPLE ARE THE SAFEST DRIVERS ON THE ROAD NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT JUST CAUSED 10 OTHERS!!!!!!!!! >:(

i dont mind sitting on 5kph over the posted limit, which is enough to keep most people happy- tho if they keep tailgating me, i brake and lose 5kph, they keep it up, i drop another 5kph..
Was down to 35kp the other day before the prat behind me worked it out, they backed off, i was back up to 65kph ;D
If it's during the day time and i have an idiot on my ass...... i just turn my parking lights on..... they are usually too stupid to work out they aren't bright enough for brake lights and you often get them standing on the brakes :o hehehe funny shit to watch. :D

My mate in his old 2.8 Sr5 Lux was being 'gated by a P plater with 3 mates in a done up shitbox Lancer, up a hill on the freeway- really, really close. Stopped traffic ahead, mate's still keeping speed and pulls into emerg lane with about 50 metres to the cars ahead. P plater locks up and crashes.
Poor person that got rear ended :-\
Bet that taught the little prick an invaluable lesson.
instead of lights on just use the handbrake to slow down a bit & watch them shyte bricks

On Monday I was driving another bloke's Exploder.
It has a dragging clutch and can be a real mongrel to get into gear. I was caught a few times unable to get it into gear to start off from the lights.
Not deliberate I can assure you. I'm surprised I didn't get a few blasts from cars behind me.

Not a good practise, even if joking can be taken the wrong way.
There have been a few nasty incidents of road rage recently, including one that cost a man his life yesterday........
my patience wears very thin on the road these days........ i get crankier as i get older :-[ I have no time for slow drivers or people who tailgate.........if you can't at least attempt the speed limit.... get off the road!!

Is that because you have less time to live???????????
Remember this is the silly season & it is better to get there a few minutes late, than be dead on time.
I know it is frustrating when you have to be somewhere at a certain time & there always seems to be someone slowing you down.
My advice is to not let it get to you, concentrate on the drive itself & where you need to go, not how the other person has made a few seconds / minutes slip by.
I have heaps of driving to do over the next few weeks (eg xmas day, brekky at Dad's at Newcastle, lunch at Peats Ridge & Dinner at Blacktown) & I know I am going to have plenty of this type of incident.
You callin us Newcastle people slow?

I haven't been yet, but if the shoe fits..................
What I was saying is that between the drive to Gosford to Newcastle, then back to Gosford, then to Blacktown, then again back to gosford, I am sure I will encounter at least one slow driver.
BTW I will be in the ute, so I don't think passing will be a huge problem where there is sufficient room. I would prefer the cruiser though, to keep the d...head driver factor at bay & with double demerits, the chances of straying the wrong side of the speed limit are going to be substantially more in the ute (cruise control will be used heaps).

yeah i get really, really frustrated with people whilst driving and do allot of uimmature things. But if someones tailing me, i get real pissed off. Once this old guy was so close he almost crashed into the back of the ute like 6 times headin down a long windy road. I kept on doin the warning "hit the skids" he still persisted with it. So i pulled over, he went past, i then followed him. At this point i realized what i was doing is quite stupid so i stopped. I was seriously about ready slam my axe through his wondow and give him a good yelling at.
Though i love when someone does it to me, cause i usually slow down to about 25km/h right where they cant pass so they get more pissed off, then they feel like the idiot!

hilux will know this roundabout....
Black road roundabout goes from 2 to 1 lanes soon after exiting...
had a doof doof car try to slip up the inside of the lux between the concrete wall and the truck...
When he saw that a hilux with 31" duelers poking an inch out of the guards wasnt going to yield (couldnt see him properly anyway!) he had a choice... go into me, or go into the wall... he hit the wall, took most of the side of his car off, removed all the body skirts on one side and rooted his car...
Pulled over in front of him after hearing the crash, walked back, checked he was OK (CFS member here, duty of care) and just said "well arent you a wanker" and drove off ;D

Everytime i go through there, people feel the need to cut across two lanes to go straight through and almost hit me >:(
Have just read this post for the 1st time, & as grimbo said, "no wonder 4wds get a bad name". Whilst I'm sure some of the comments were said in jest, or at least I hope so, there are some out there who may do some of these things. Maybe there are other people who dont own a 4wd & visit this forum & others, see these & similar comments & think "yeh these people who bag 4wds must be right".
I don't mean to sound like a 'goody 2 shoes' but no one is perfect & we all make mistakes. In most cases, just chill out & let them go & wreck someone elses day. The minute we starting playing their games, whether it be tailgating etc, it can all turn pearshape. Sure it's annoying getting tailgated, but by breaktesting them etc, you may make an aggressive driver more aggressive causing more agro. If someone tailgates me & I cant move over, I have this remedy.
I just put on my windscreen washes. Water flys over the back onto vehicle making them turn on the wipers & they always slow down.
Cheers

Seriouse, I love it when other drivers go ape shit at me on the road, cause i'm just cruisin along. They get agro and I just sit back and maybe wink... I hate violence ;)
But you weren't tailgating Jamie. ;D. In all seriousness, give it a try, it works a treat.
Also agree with ya other comments; no point getting all agro etc, it doesn't solve anything.

I used to be a hot head jumping out of cars at lights etc. I spend all day on the road and see many DH's. I now just kick back and move on most of the time. I can be real moody and impatient and if im driving in this mood I can carry on a little but generaly the carry on only effects me and my car.
Yrs ago I did one similarly mentioned earlier where I was travelling down a rd near home with a wanker tailgating. We were in the far left lane, me in a troopy and him in a celica. I waited until the last few meters then swung across into the middle lane causing this dick to plow straight up the arse of a parked bus. Troopy 1 celica 0. In hinesight I now feel for all those people going to work on the bus. Things we do when young and inconciderate.
Must say though the merc on the way home from gemby last night was shittin me. Just wasnt in the mood. lol

I was recently going thru a roundabout near my joint and this chick tried to go around the outside of me. just as the lanes merged i saw the roof of her little camry appear out the passenger window, she went 2 wheels up the kurb (nice sloping one thank god) and then she planted her foot ... she still wanted to get round me http://flytyingforum.com/html/emoticons/eek.gif.
I lifted my foot off the gas as she fish-tailed half in the dirt. When she finally got it back on the road she gave me the obligatory finger out the window. Scary thing is I could see her kid's in the kiddie seats in the back. http://flytyingforum.com/html/emoticons/cursing.gif

we are only a pain in the butt to see around if they have their front bumper under our tailgate. If they drop back 50 feet there is no problem.
The reason you and I go round trucks (well me at least) is that they are hill detectors and I dont really like going up hills in 3rd. also I object to cleaning cow cr@p off my car when following stock trucks ;)
