1998 RV 3.4L Prado
It’s a simple beast but it gets me almost everywhere I want to go.
It started it life a 'soccer’s mums' car in Canberra before I bought it in 2003 with only 60000km on the clock.
Since being under my control it has received;
ECB alloy bull bar
Magnum 9000lb winch
Nava 'big rig' driving lights
Garmin UHF
OME springs and shocks (standard 2" lift)
Poly air on the rear (to come)
ARB air compressor
16x8"rims with 265/75 Wranglers MTR- Originally ran it on Coopers ST's on the standard 15" rims however after moving to Darwin and experiencing the wet season I upgraded. Bit more highway noise and fuel consumption however they are excellent in the soft stuff
Custom home built drawers
Cargo barrier
Waeco 40l fridge
Duel battery setup using Waeco deep cycle built into drawers
Full recovery gear including ARB hand winch
EPIRB
Hands free CDMA phone mount with external aerial
Touch screen LCD connected to lap to that lives under the passenger set in a home built mount
GPS from lap top running on Oziexploer
I have done many trips in this car and it has not failed me yet (though I have replace CV joints twice after some rougher stuff- and the aircon compressor sh@t itself on the Oodnadatta Track)
I am looking to upgrade sometime in the future mainly because I now have a growing family and will need to start pulling a camper and as such would like a diesel for the obvious benefits. It will be a sad day when I depart with it.
