Last wednesday, i foolishly left my cruiser parked overnight, outside my work in darwins industrial suburb of winnelie. It wasn't until roughly 9am Thursday when i went out to my car i noticed my Lightforce XGT's were gone, It makes me feel sick.
They had lock nuts on them and were bolted up inside the RHS of the bullbar, it's got me stuffed how they got them off but obviously lock nuts don't deter theives.
I've called the police and all the second hand dealers in town, they took my details and will keep an eye out for them, but even if someone does come in with some i can't prove they're mine. It sucks.
All i can do is ask you guys to keep an eye out on the net etc.
Any help is much appreciated,
thanks, Dan.

that's got to suck mate, I have had at least 6 blokes come in to my shop who have had their LF lights stolen in the last couple of months, 1 guy twice. and he had lock nuts on his also, all stolen from the same parking lot,
There has to be a lot of LF lights getting flogged off on ebay or somewhere to unknowing people, but proving they were yours would be hard unless you had them engraved, good luck I hope you can get them back or find the prick/s who stole them.

It is a shit feeling when someone has stolen your gear.Nothing i can say will help really.I would love a pair of LF on the front of my patrol. But i will leave the Narvas on there because theives dont even look at them twice.
OK all you autolekkies out there.
Is there anyway to plug a 12V "screamer" into the wiring loom of the lights.
One of those things the shelia's have on their handbags - when you pull the plug (or someone snatches their bag) it lets out a high pitched "scream/siren" !!!!!
That way when the pricks unplug the wires.......

Of course you can do it, it would require some simple control gear but it do-able for sure

Lock nuts wont stop anyone from stealing, drill a small hole through the thread of the spotlight bolt and put a pad lock on.

i have read some where that with the LF lights that you can just unscrew the light it self

Ive head lock tight works ok. Kinda slows them down abit anyway. i used 2 tubes on mine, 1 tube per light

I don't have a camera at the moment to show you but I bought two sets of locking nuts and replaced the bolt in the light itself (not the mounting one) to make it longer and then put a locking nut on it too. Four locking nuts in total.
But I can still steal them. Cannot actually stop some people.

Thats most likely true for anything thats threads together. Don't have to loosen to nuts to get off.
I use two nuts locked together, of different spanner sizes.
Some people even put a tac of weld on the side of the thread to prevent any nut being removed. Seems extreme, but stops the theft ey.
The worst I have had nicked was 4 antennas of my old Hilux. Now i tighten them with a shifter and hope for the best.

I was at Jaycar the other day looking at LED lights and I found a kit that will protect spotlights....... It is exactly what you guys are after. It says it will protect up to 4 lights and will go off when the wires are cut.
I'm not sure exactly how the system works but it might be worth a look. I had a seach but couldn't find it online.

I like it!!!! The idea that is, not the getting zapped part.
Maybe we need to start engraving details into the housing.
And maybe if those who are stealing them also had them stolen, they would know how it feels.

Get yourselve a Can of DATA DOTS.
Theives can still steal em', but unlike engraving you can't remove all of micro dots, leaving them to be found and the lights returned to you!
I've seen cans of data dots at an automotive store, but I'll stick with my lame-o pair of Ziel!
Just a thought.

We do a simple trick that has been proven 100% reliable over the past 15 years.
Get some welsh plugs one that fits just inside the other, drill a hole in the centre to go over the thread of the spottie bolt.
Weld a bit of round tube to the other plug with the plug sitting inside like a cup (make sense>?) You will need to slit or drill this to be able to take a locking device as well.
Put the single welsh plug over the bolt then do the nut up "into " the cup of the plug, slide the other welsh plug up over the nut (encapsulating it totally) and then a small padlock or pin thru the bolt to stop the thing dropping off. Stops the nut and spottie bolt from being gotten at. Slows them down to no end!
