Its not a new wagon but exactly the same body as the new one. It just has a different front end.And better suspension on the back.
I've put new springs in my LJ78 for a 35mm lift but haven't fitted larger tyres yet as they are still holding up my spare parts HJ60.You could look at Baby-troupe for some more Ideas on what a new wagon done up would look like.

The guy in my sig has done some work to a new Cruiser Ute, haven't heard about any wagons from anywhere yet, but I'm sure it won't take long ;)

The local Toyota dealership up here has a 70 wagon done up in stickers, with a lift, barwork, tyres and spotties and so forth. It actually looks pretty good. Metallic silver with red stickering. I'll see if I can grab a pic of it next time I'm heading past. It's always parked right out front (surprisingly).

As an aside, coming back from lunch yesterday I saw a 70 wagon with a dual-cab conversion done. Must have had an extended chassis, since the tray on the back was pretty huge. $60k for the wagon, $30k (or so I'm guessing) for the dualcab chop - where do these people get their money from? And how much money do you need before chopping up a brand new, still-under-warranty vehicle starts to seem like a good idea? Each to their own though - the guy driving it certainly looked pretty happy!

Pics of new 70 series with dual cab conversion, done by bendigo toyota. toyota will not allow them to have it on the front lot on display.

That looks really good. Mind you, makes for an expensive twin cab.

G'day matto,
RWV Conversions in severin st chop wagons into dual cabs for $10,200 starting price, chassis extension is only about 2 grand more.

but i agree you must have plenty of cash to do it to a new wagon. i reckon the tax man will be paying for it.

why???

What other heavy duty dual cabs are available?

There is quite a gap between the 'sports' dual cabs like Hilux, Navara etc and the next bigger which is the F250.
Looks like a great rig. I would have one if I had the money. V8 diesel power, room for people, a tray for the dirty gear and its a 'real 4wd'.

Or why not on display? (I just reread the posts)

That tray is by Eddington Engineering. They make realy great ute bodies. They made mine to spec. You can see trays by them on the ARB 79 Cruiser in the mag all the time.

Anyway, just my addition.

The dual cab looks good though, yes please. If only I could update my 75 tray.....

Yes Norm and Simon make some nice stuff, very impressive for a little town like Eddington ;)

I did not know that! Thank's mate - that's good info. Goes a long way to explaining why you seem to see so many dual cab conversions running around up here, I guess! No idea where I got the $30k figure from then.

I can appreciate the work that's gone into the truck as it looks top notch, but I personally don't like the overall look of the truck

Maybe if it had the chassis extended between the wheels (ie longer wheelbase) so that the rear overhang was shorter I might

That twin cab looks terrible. The rear diff needs moving back about by a foot.

I am starting to see twin cab Prado utes around area here and there. I think the mines are using them.

We were talking about one guy's dual cab 70 series trayback conversions on the weekend. The extra length made it a real bus when it came to u-turns on narrow mountain trails. Though I suppose it'd be no different to driving a large F series in that sort of country.
