Anyway mate look forward to seeing your future mods...

Very nice & good luck with it :D
Regards Paul100 :thumb:
The tray is going to be the same colour as the bullbar (Toyota silver pearl) It is steel with lock boxes either side in front of the rear wheels and stainless steel capping along the top of the sides, will have an 85litre water tank underneath as well.
The standard 4" speakers are pathetic. I left them in but added the 6" speakers the head unit is the same, just new speakers. It has made a big difference to the sound quality..... definately NO doff doff.
Yeah Jamie and his merry man fitted the bar lights and winch. They do a great job and i would recommend them to anybody. They were still working on the truck at 7pm at night to get it done!! I used to live at Caboolture but am at Ashgrove in Brissy now. Thanks guys

damm.... ! id have one no wories looks good mate
Just a short update.
Ute is still getting tray fitted so don't have any new photos however....... it is booked in to have ARB Air Lockers fitted front and back on the 29/10/2007:waycool: Am a little bit excited!! sucks not being able to drive it, have had it for nearly a month now and only done 700k's in it and most of that is taking it to places to get stuff fitted and bringing it back from the dealer. Looking forward to having it home when it is all finished.
Will have some new photos up soon hopefully.
Cheers
Andrew
Finally got round to taking some photos of the ute with the new tray attached. Coming along nicely now.
Impressions so far - Great! very easy to drive around town. I have a 60k round trip for work each day through the city. Due to the low down torque gear changes are reduced. There is no Turbo lag at all therefore you do not have to wring it's neck to get going nor do you have to red line it to keep the revs up for the next gear change. I usually change gears around the 2000rpm mark and am in 5th at 60km/hr. Fuel consumption has proved to be quite good despite negative comments in the past. I have managed to get 1080k's out of 114litres of diesel. in my first test and that is through town very little highway driving unladen of course.
Hope you enjoy the pics

Hi, looking great.
Couple of questions if you dont mind. I am looking at ordering a GXL next week for a new work vehicle. (Jan-Feb delivery)
Did you look at the Toyota Bar? I was thinking of going that way with the side bars and winch. I heard a few stories that there was some issue from fron axle overloads with the bar/winch fitted, figured safe to go factory fit if there is a issue. In the past most Toyota bars were too light.
Thanks

Coming together well mate. Only problem with looking at this is the more I want one. Looking real good mate. Keep the updates coming.
Thanks for the positive feedback guys!
Qualos- i replied to your question in your thread.
Update-
I had the rear exhaust removed and replaced with straight through tail pipe. I have kept the original exhaust and mounting brackets so i can just bolt the OME one back on if there is any Warranty issues. The note that is produced from the engine now around the 2000rpm mark is awesome. The vehicle is amazingly quiet but instead of only hearing engine noise you hear the deep rumble of a V8!!! ...when you give it a boot full all you hear is induction noise from the snorkel which is loud with the drivers side window down. I am finding excuses to go for a drive down the road now just to listen to the exhaust. Even at 100km/hr on the highway it is still quiet there is no resonation in the cab. I doubt you could make this vehicle loud unless you unbolted the turbo... and that ain't happening.
Off to get the air lockers tomorrow,,,, am a bit excited if you haven't noticed :D First test for the ute will be a 5 day trip to 1770 & Agnes Waters in late November i can't wait.
Cheers

Good work,
Isnt it a shame you dont get to show anything more for your money other two switches:)
Anything planned next:thumb:
How come you didn't get the factory front and rear locks? I've heard they are cheaper.
Anyway every time I see one of these I want one just that little bit more.
Would love to see one lifted with 35's under it.
Guts- I Was undecided when i ordered the vehicle..... the extra $2700 would have pushed the price into luxury tax territory as well.
Quatos- Yes it is ordinary after spending that amount that you only get three buttons. I still haven't used them in anger yet. Had a play with them in a grass paddock at work the other day...... crikey the steering gets heavy, like having a return to centre steering damper that uses car coil springs to centre your wheels !! Make sure you let us know when you get that 200 series wagon, am very keen to see what you think.
Cheers
Andrew
Yep fair enough, didn't think of that happening.
You'll find you get used to the steering when the front is locked and you will not have any issues with steering when used in anger hehehehe.
Qualos,
Only a couple of things left to do now. Fit my BFG Mud Terrains to the steel toyota rims, fit the ERPS rust prevention and finish fitting the heat exchange and shower pump.
Ohh i almost forgot.... i am getting a 2.5mm chequer plate box made it will be ready on the 19/11/07. The box goes behind the cab the width of the tray 1780mm, 600mm wide and 980mm high. It will have 2 x gull wing gas strut doors as well as a drop down door on the port side to enable the fridge to slide out. It comes with a bearing roller fridge slide/draw so i can have my fridge securely locked away with me all the time, as well as a bit of space to lock shopping/personal stuff away.

That is one sweet looking rig, and great minds must think alike, as i was thinking of making one of those ute boxes to go under my canopy my next project. Who made it and for how much? If you dont mind me asking. A mate has had his 70 series for about 2 months now loves the power but the fuel economy on his is shitfull, average around 19l/100km unladen on highway runs. How's yours go on the highway?
Looks good mate,
JJ
Jester,
I had the ute box custom made by Jackoff ute accessories at Sandgate Road Virginia (Brisbane) it cost $2200 with the fridge slide. I don't know what your mate is doing in his ute to get 19lt per 100k's on the highway? i am driving mine a bit harder now, compared to when it was brand new. All my k's thus far have been through the city and i still manage 11lt's per 100k's.

Cheers mate, yeah he cant work it out either, its been back to toyota 3 times now to find out whats going on, the 79 series that it replaced was driven the same way on the same trips and gave better economy, even mine with a trayfull of gear shits on it, so to say the least he's not a very happy customer. Toyota sent it off to a "specialist" yesterday to give it go over to see if they could find anything wrong. Glad there all not as bad, his may have just been a friday afternoon special.

Hi LC70
I also have one of these but I waited 61/2 months for mine
Have you fitted your shower yet and if so could you post some pic of it
as I look under that bonnet I think where can I place it
Your extras are nearlythe same as mine, I am waiting for my new rims to arrive from America it should be next month but I will be fitting MT to mine
when it is completed I will place it into the shed
Regarding the bloke that is doing 19lt he must have a problem someware with his car even when I push mine (which is always) I still am around the 11lt

Its back and after 2 days of testing and a lot of head scratching all the drama was put down to a faulty air intake sensor. From what they told him it was overfueling because the computer was detecting great amounts of air (when there wasnt) as if the engine was revving, so it let more fuel in to compensate. Will wait and see how it goes this time.
JJ
Ron1,
I have attached several photos showing the shower heat exchange and fitting brackets. I made the brackets out of a bit of scrap alluminium flat bar not much room under the bonnet now, was a squeeze to get it into this position but it just fits. The outlet is the green garden hose and the clip on fitting near the wheel is where i connect the shower rose. Used it for 4 days last week when camping, it worked really well.

You should of got the factory lockers like i did, they are so relaible its not funny, and they don't use the crap switches that arb have that after a while the rockers fall off. There is no luxury car tax payable on your vehicle as its a commercial vehicle, luxury car tax is only payable on luxury cars, they tryed that crap with me and i spat it big time, so they knocked another $700 bucks off the price and the manager rang me to apologise.
Just remember that you have now voided the warranty by fitting air lockers, because they weren't factory delivered, and they have drilled holes throught he carriers for the air line.

hey nice trucks u have there fellas how bout seeing a bit more of urs yotabits it looks like a tuff truck with a few mods would like to here bout them. how do u find the truck good? what about the axle width diffrence any trouble travelling dirt roads ?
Yotabits,
Each to their own mate, i like ARB lockers better, for their increased strength in the diff centres and proven track record. Yes the toyota warranty may be questionable now on my vehicle ...... but you do know ARB have warranty don't you ?? on both product and install?? and i have complete faith in the ARB dealership i went to in rectifying any diff/locker related problem i may encounter.
YOTABITS
02-12-2007, 11:37 PM
In my last 5 vehicles i have run arb lockers f/r and i agree there good and fairly reliable, but i just think you can't go past factory optioned gear, as its designed for the vehicle and not some aftermarket product. Strength in the carrier would be the same whether its a air locker or oem equipment. I use the factory diflocks in my car between once a week and half a dozen times, especially when trying to take off on some steep dirt roads with a full load on, obviously more of the rear than the front.
Just look at it from this point of veiw, if you colapse a pinion bearing with the arb's, arb will not warrant that, they have a limited warranty that covers the locker assembly itself and everything around that is separate.
Where as with toyota, because you haven't had the diff apart you could have the same problem and once the cause has been identified they will more than likely fix it.
Due to the price of these vehicles i would not be doing anything to jeopardise the warranty, as at his stage parts are still way to expensive.
Ben
Ben,
As i said in my previous post "Each to their own" i appreciate your opinion and input but what i have purchased suited my needs and has been done that way because it is my hard earned cash to spend where i like. As for vehicle manufacturers warranty i will just say..... my previous vehicle was a 3lt patrol, warranty from the factory is not worth crap in my experience.

Nice 79 ute. Have you priced the dtronic chips for the 70 series. What is the projected gain in engine output??? I obtained a quote from beaudesert exhaust for a system fitted to my ute $1080 + $120 fitting. I couldn't afford it so i did the cheap chop with the muffler. You wil love the new beast they do sound nice:truck: ..... hope your wait is relatively painless:cry:

Not as yet but will be having a shop around
Took the ute to work last night...... rolled up to intersection and it stalled with clutch in hit the key starts but stalls straight away, repeated this for about 5 goes. Finally she fires up and then it won't rev past 2000rpm no power. Stopped to the side of the road turn off and back on again and away we go problem gone but still seems a bit different. Jump in ute to go home after work this morning and about 5 mins into journey happens again. Got home contacted Sci Fleet Toyota Kedron dropped it off this arvo and was diagnosed with broken Cat Converter. Apparently the internals has come loose and are sitting sideways. New parts ordered under warrranty will be fixed next week hopefully.
Just got off the phone to Beaudesert Exhausts and have ordered a 3" straight thru system..... that will solve all the problems:thumb: however didn't tell Mr Toyota and won't fit new system until warranty work is complete.
Truck has 17,000k's on it getting ready to hit the Cape in August! still happy with it other then this minor issue.
