View Full Version : Max suspension lift for a GV

I know this has been done to death but I'm just clearing up a few things in my head.
What's the max suspsension lift for a GV without going down the Calmini path? I have an OME lift (35mm) atm and am looking at putting in coil spacers. I was thinking about getting an additional 20mm lift, which translates to 10mm spacers for the front and 20mm for the rear.
Is it possible to go higher then a 55mm lift concidering the potential for CV damage?
Does coil spacers make the suspension worse (perform worse?) or is it not just as good as longer coils?
Will I need camber adjustments bolts as well? I think Pedders does these and people have seen good results? Does someone know how much these cost?
The reason for this lift is so I can better departure angles since I'm always banging my H/R towbar and my OE fuel tank protection plate.
3inch and working on 4inch!!!

What did you modify to get the 3"? I've read your reply on Outers but wasn't sure what you changed.
All I really want to do is add coil spacers for the lift so no calmini/RRO kit. So all I really want to know is big coil spacers can I go without damage to CVs etc.
i have not fitted kit yet but it will be a 3inch bolt on kit and have been told i can go to 4inch with spacers

to go to 55mm on your car you will at least have to fit longer shocks and fit diff drop brackets ( blue bits in pic ) in the front and rear plus the spring spacers and the camber bolts
you are looking at another $500 bucks to get the extra 20mm

3 inch suspension, 3 inch body, 31's without triming the guards. 9would probably fit without the body lift with very minor triming)
135 thousand less than carefull km's. no problems.
and still no information???

Info on what?
It's a body lift kit we sell, a suspension we sell.
Never needed dropped brackets, never needed any offset arms , never needed to misalign the rear a frame, works good.

Camber will have to be adjusted. The camber bolts are the best way to do this in my experience.
Using all coil spacers will give it enough leverage to kill the springs pretty quickly. Coils are relatively cheap and you'll have a better ride with more travel.
The tail of the vit's short enough that a small change in altitude makes a big change in departure angle.
You'll need longer struts and shocks.
parts in kit? price of kit? with and without body lift? same for swb - XL7
not having a go just would like to know!!

Interesting that you don't need diff drop brackets etc etc since the Calmini kit at 2.5" includes those extra bits and pieces, whereas yours and the Rocky Road kits don't need them???
I would prefer to keep my current shocks/struts/springs since they're only 1 year old. I thought the OME struts/shocks had enought travel in them for a little more lift?
