hi,
just wondering if anyone would know how iwould go with a turbo off a 3 litre engine, on a 4.2 litre diesel. Also if I would have any dramas i;e bearings, rings etc the motor has 350.000 on the clock.

IMO a turbo needs to be matched to the size of the engine. It'll spool up really quickly great down low but will run out of puff a couple of tho rpm later and not be effective throughout the rev range. It may work fine but talk to a preformance workshop they soon tell u. Unless someone on here has actually done it, all u'll get is speculation, go to someone who knows! The pro's!!!!

Is the turbo off a 3ltr petrol or diesel? If its petrol, maybe.

Its off a 3litre diesel.

They make different sized turbos for a reason.

The turbo off a 3 litre ,if your thinking of the 1KZ is a CT12b which is quite small compared to what you would need for a 6 and it would be a waste of time trying to fit.

I have read before that you can drop the turbo out of a 3.0L Toyota Supra straight onto a 4.2 Diesel cruiser and it will run better than the factory 1HDT!

Don't know how much truth there is to that as I already have a turbo but it may be food for thought for you!

Cheers

The supra has a ct26 which is the same as 1hdt turbo, but it has a bigger compresor wheel, which makes it a little better.

I believe the Supra unit also has a much bigger turbine too, so it needs a lot more energy to spin it up :o
