Hi all am new to this and hope someone out there can help. 3 weeks ago I bought a 2000 Discovery Series 2 (auto V8 petrol). My driveway has a slight slope and most times when I reverse down it the Traction Control, ABS and TC lights come on on the dash. Some times they go out sometimes they don't. Some times they stay on till I turn the car off and then next time I turn the car back on they are off again. I'm a bit worried that there is something expensively wrong with the car I have just bought and if so is it safe to drive? We are going to tassie for a holiday this Friday 14th (black top touring only) and I'm concerned about the safety of the car. Has this happend to anyone else with this vehicle and if so what is the problem and how is it fixed.

Go to Australian Land Rover Owners (http://www.aulro.com) and do a search on ABS/TC/Hill Descent lights or the three amigos. You will find all the information you never wanted to know there.

One of your ABS sensors is faulty or the contacts at the join of one is dirty/rusty, got crap in it.
Have a Landy specialist plug it into the computer to see if the ECU has logged a fault, that will determin which sensor it is.
Don't go to a dealer, they charge too much, the fault check should only be around $45.

Best advice I heard :thumb::thumb:
It is a very common problem with them & may be something as simple as a bad earth.
Don't bother going to the dealer, he will just take your money & not help.... Go to a landy specialist if you want to fix it.
Ours did it & we chased it round & round & after the last visit to a reputable landy mechanic, he said, yep they are bad for, it's not a problem if you can put up with the lights on the dash you will be fine

yep they are bad for, it's not a problem if you can put up with the lights on the dash you will be fine That's not what any reputable repairer would say !!
If the warning lights are on, chances are the ABS system is disabled.

Ease up mate, no need to be snappy, but I have been there& done that, the lights are on & everything still works fine, it has been tested by professionals.
It is just 1 of those land rover things, The D2's are hit & miss, some never have a problem & some just can't get rid of it.
If it bothers you turn the ignition off & it usually goes away.
If it only happens intermitantly of coarse.
If it is going off like crazy then there is most likely to be a problem, low brake pads can cause it, worn rotors is another, faulty abs sensor... the list goes on... but once you have replaced all of them & it still happens :confused: you put it down to the joys of being a land rover enthusiest :crazy:
