Hi all,
Ive just dropped the gearbox out of my 86 2L hilux due to a blown 5th gear. Took the clutch off to have a looksee and found it had a fair bit of meat on it left. However the fingers on the pressure plate are pretty worn. Is this normal/ok? Also the all cylinder shaped parts (dunno the tech name, theyre near the springs) have got gouges out of them. Like its been rubbing on something. Do you think i should replace it?
Also the bearing that the input shaft of the gearbox sits in (?) on the flywheel spins a little tight/knotchy. Replace this?

One more question, how much play is ok on the input shaft of the geabox? Ive got no more than 1mm each way.(up and down)

Anything else i should look at while its out? Rear main seal is ok and i cant see any cracks or damage to the flywheel.

Cheers

while youve got it all out i would replace it, the fingers are worn because the thrust bearing is stuffed and has been slipping on the fingers, i would be removing the fly wheel and machining it and replace the bearing in the flywheel also, best bet is to replace it all, dont want to pull it all apart again. 1mm play is probably excessive get the bearings checked/ replaced in box aswell

Thanks for the advice.
Which one is the spigot? Is it worth machining the flywheel even though it looks ok? And does the thrust bearing come with a new clutch kit?
Can you recommend a brand of clutch?

Cheers
