Just wondering if anyone has any comments on how too lift a GQ ute. I am currently looking at a six inch spring lift from Macquarie 4x4 using the dobinson's springs. I was also considering using the 4 inch springs with spacers under the springs to increase the height. The reason for this would be to have a more stable spring yet still have the height. A body lift is out of the question as I have a front mount intercooler and this would be hard top work with. If anyone has any info on what spring rates to use and how their setup performs (eg what's good about and whats bad about it) it would be appreciated.

Thanks

My only advice is make sure you remember the caster angles.

Any more that 2 inches of lift will place extra strain on universal joints etc.

Better to use the 6" springs as you are not relying on neoprene to keep the springs trapped. I've put about 50,000km on my Dobinson 6"/Rancho GQ and have experienced no problems with excessive wear due to increased drive shaft angle. I used Wizard 7 degree plates for castor correction and have about 3.5 degrees pos of castor. Don't forget to extend brake lines.

Well worth the effort
