have heard they are marginally better on economy, so long as you dont boot it too much, otherwise those 8 'jectors suck some juice!!! Hence why the V8 is alot cheaper than the TD.

I haven't had mine for very long but I reckon I get about 400kms from the main tank which I think is about 96 litres.
So that's something like 25l/100km.
Mind you that's just pottering around the city, lots of stop and starts, lots of traffic and lights to stop for.
It's a bit worse on fuel than my 5.7 SS, but I would expect it to be due to it's weight.

14klm/l touring max 17klm/l if you keep it below 2500 rpm (you can still keep up with traffic) but if you go over 3000 rpm it sucks fuel like a ***** and can get expensive , i am looking at getting sgi(sequential lpg ingection) it is sopposed to be better than the older style lpg system.

my mate has a manual gxl v8 and a 5spd auto kakadu v8...he reckons the auto goes better and uses less fuel. I thought the gear ratios would be pretty similar???
Cracka off here has just bought one and seems really happy with the economy he is apparently using 17L/100ks and he isnt being gentle on it either ;)

If people are concerned about how many litres they are using per 100Km's , best thing - leave it in the garage , or fill up on a wednesday morning cheapers day of week , just before the greedy oil companies put they price back up .
why not get a HZJ 105 GXL and whack a turbo on it ??

I heard they suck about 18-22L on 100km and that to me really sucks. I wouldn't go near one or have one if I got it for free !!!

I have had my 100 series V8 for 2 years now and covered just over 140,000klm's and most of that is around town.
I used to get about 18 litres per 100 kilometres on average around town (Most of my city driving is in the evening) and on a trip I get about 16.
I have had as low as 14 litres per 100 kilometres when I have been on a trip as long as I stay between 90-100kph....
I have now converted to LPG and I have done nearly 80,000 klm's on LPG and I average out of a tank of gas 350-400 klm's which is usually about 80 litres when the red light comes on.
I have got once 450 klm's out of 90 litres of gas (It has a 92 litre usable litre gas tank) so that's not bad.
It costs me on average $40 to go about 350 klm's.
I am a bit of a lead foot though....
I think for the sheer drivability of a V8 auto, and the power on tap I can't complain about that cost.
The difference between driving on gas and petrol is virtually undetectable in the V8.
It's actually cheaper to run than my old 4.2 litre TD Patrol I used to own....a heck of a lot quicker too...:waycool:

I have only recently purchased my 100 series, brand new. With just on 3000kms on the clock, i am getting about 14.5-15.0L/100kms in the city (Sydney), and about 12.5L/100KMs on a highway run. I drive it hard occasionally, and as my previous car was a modified GenIII Statesman, you can understand that I dont potter round. My GenIII was doing about 15L/100Kms in the city, so not much difference for me.
Did some research prior to buying, and have fitted extractors and twin exhaust (custom system) from D&T Performance in SouthOz, which was selected after talking to previous customers who expressed similar economy gains.
Am expecting this to improve as the cruiser beds in and gets a few kays under her belt.

I drive a 3.0 Ltr TD Patrol Auto and last year did the Simpson desert travelling with an almost new LC V8 manual. I was continually surprised at his consumption and on one leg he actually got better than me (just). He was able to keep his revs down when I was pushing mine pretty hard over a few 'virgin' sand dunes. From memory he averaged around 16 lts/100 km and I averaged just under 15 ltrs/100 km on the longer gravel track runs, and we both were up around 20-21 ltrs/100 km over the real sandy sections of the desert.

Who cares about how much fuel they suck. They still make it and I can't wait until they bring out the 5.7 ltr 200 cruiser which may consume more fuel. But crickey it should go like like like

Blame goverment fuel prices not design consumption.
$1.20 p/L , $1.50 p/L , whats the difference ITS STILL TOO BLOODY EXPENSIVE!!. what the heck why dont they just make it $2.00, we will still have to buy it or are we gunna drive mopeds?
I was happy when it was just 1 ltr = $1.00, or maybe thats just cause my maths is so bad.

I average around 19L per 100Km in the city and around 17.5L per 100Km on the highway. Keep in mind that my 100 series is setup up with a lot of touring weight.
I have just fitted extractors and an exhuast and the fuel saving is defiantely noticeable.
