Any ideas on the cost on repairing a transfer case that has chewed its rear bearing and spat it into the innards Its in a 98 1HZ. I realise that its probably impossible to know without seeing it but a rough cost if anyone has had a similar problem.
Also how many different sumps did the 1 hz have. His one had obviously hit a rock and stove it in around the drain. He got one from an engine rebuilder but it didnt fit. Cost him over $500 for a new one
Thanks.
PS I told him not to buy it but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Transfer case will be expensive, if the broken bits have mangled everything else. May be better off searching the wreckers for a good s/h one.

1HZ sumps... well AFAIK the 80 and 105 are the same (well they will interchange, the low oil level sensor boss is different), possibly 75 or 78/79 were different.

Thanks The engine guy wouldnt believe it either but the Toyota agent that is doing the job sent a template down to him and they are different. Seems strange to me.
Its a 98 100 series with a 1 hz diesel. Should be plenty of bits around for one of them I would think???????????????????

It was still going Ok just a small oil leak from rear transfer case seal and thats what they found apparently when they pulled the seal out.
