hey i own a 92 hilux single cab and it sags quite alot towards the drivers side, im not sure if the front springs are stuffed because apparently they are only new, and i have fitted new rear springs but i wasnt sure if the springs went to a specific side, as in one for drivers and one for passengers so i just put them on either haha, does anyone know if that is true and also what defines an old ruined leaf spring? thanks hayden

so hiluxs are prone to sag haha, my driver front spring is practically flat is that still allright or do i need to use the caster wedges or something or whatever they are called to correct the angle?

Yep they nearly all do it. New springs are usually marked left and right, some have + or - on them for left and right but i can't remember if + means left or right. There is a lot more weight on the right side than the left, because you have the battery, fuel tank and driver on the right side. You could try to even up the weight distribution by adding a second battery on the left side and keeping your esky full of beer on the passenger side LOL

If you have replaced to higher springs, the torque rod pulls it down, casuing it to sag. Hilux springs are meant to be @ static height so that they can 'invert' as well as drop. A good spring is one that sits level (static) and is not reversed , this will give you the best flex. But yeah crap how Toyota put all the weight on the drivers side, what about the US? is thier tank, and batt on the same side as driver?

Maybe it's time for a diet? lol, sorry, just kidding, had to say it. I have a mate who's mum is pretty big and his cruiser gets a massive amount of sag whenever she is in the passenger seat..

the drivers side springs free height should be about a half inch higher from memory so there should defenitely be a right and left hand side.
as for an olf ruined leaf its kinda hard to tel with them in the car but they will probly sit slightly inverted or close to it. if ya pull them out and open the spring pack up there should be pull up in it ( the 2nd leaf should be about an inch higher than the main leaf) this gives it strength.
at work we never reset hilux fronts we always replace them.

Check that the "U" bolts havent been over tightened also I just removed front suspension off a 96 and the U bolts were that tight they had flatened the the curve in the springs and bowed the spring plates.

If they are lifted springs you should have an adjustable diff locator/Torque rod. Doesnt solve the problem, as mine does it also, but it helps.
