thinking of an engine swap in the near future, tossing up wether to go with a 4agze or a rangie v8. anyone heard of this being done, how hard would it be.

yer rangie v8 i am pretty sure are the only ones that fit and that you can get modded for

I doub't you would get mod plated for a rangie V8 easily, And a 4agze would be sufficient. Although a Rangie V8 would be uber cool :D

you wont get it legal in Victoria. The chassis design and strength isn't up to it and the brake system also needs looking at. There was a guy in our club a awhile back who tried to get this doen through all the proper channels and it just can't be done in Victoria. Personally i would just go with a Vitara 1.6, easy to do and easy to get approved

The problem is you start breaking axles, diffs, gearboxes etc when you up the power much more than a stock GTi or 1.6

mmm, already has a carbed 1.6 in it, think the 4agze will be better,, but to hear a v8 zook,,, has potential

I would be looking into a 20 valve toyota if I were you, they have been known to make awsome power.

IMHO no use having all that power if you then cant get traction....also what is the tourqe range of these engines?? yeah for a road car it sure would have the "wank" factor, but might not be suited for proper 4wding???

just opinion anyways!

I know for a fact that in cairns the speedway has a sierra/drover with a 340 hemi in it running stock diffs!~!!!

lol sounded farrrrkkknn awesome, obvisouly only 2wd, and like i said it definatley had the "wank factor"!! ahahah but not sure how functional it would have been in the bush:P

why do you want to do AN ENGINE SWAP? IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE 1.6 THAT IS A perfect engine for a Sierra. They aren't made for driving fast so I can't see the point of high power engines. All you need in a Sierra to make them very capable is the right gearing
