i was wondering if it was possible to get more boost out of the standard turbo ona a 2000 model td5

Get a Chip upgrade. I used one by Powerchip and it increased Nm to 377 and Kw to 118 which is about 30 pecent without increasing fuel consumption. I have had mine for three years and it has done 45000k without any problems.

maybe a bleed valve, just bleed the actuator and crank the boost up a little, not too much you don't wanna blow her up LOL.
cheers

boost cuts out on a TD5 around 24psi. after that the ecu limits fuel to the motor, limp mode.

oh and discos and defenders are different in adjusting the boost.
in a defender you can manually adjust the boost by changing the length of the waste gate actuator rod. this cant be done in a disco as they are controlled by the ecu.

Chip $500 and intercooler $1000 from Rovertech will get you around 160Kw and 480Nm in a TD5 the intercooler is the biggest improvement.
3" Mandrel bend exhaust from the turbo and remove the EGR with a blanking kit, that will take you even higher ;)

I got more power out of my td5 Defender by removing a Diesel gas Australia system and fitting a new Sequent II diesel gas system ,it goes better and uses 1/3 less gas all the things you need to know is at Hunter Gas Technologies (http://www.gastek.com.au) jest have a look at the dyno report .

Those horse power figures don't add up, 82 hp is 61.5 Kw, is this to the back wheels or flywheel, because the TD5 has 90Kw Defender and 101Kw Disco TD5.
Is there something Hunter does that gets more from their system than DGA and are they the same price.

There are some good gains to be made from running gas injection.... but when I looked at it for our D2.... where does the gas tank go....
The room I was to loose was more important to me, so the ecu upgrade & inter cooler are better options in my eyes.
4wdm did a tech article on 1 a while back & they were quite impressed.

Baz they can even push these figures higher:D. I think george is pushing around 180kw and something like 520Nm but then everything has been played with (You don't need this much grunt either).

how long will your gearbox last with this much. as i think there only rated to about 380nm.
a mate with a worked td5 defender has just done his gearbox after about 50000k's

These are at the wheels using a chassi dyno
hunter gas uses the sequent II system witch injects the gas at the right time not the old fumigation system and yes it is the same price. A more advanced system for the same value

the gas tanks go on the chassi rails and are above the chassi so still great for off road

It was only a matter of time until they came to the party.....
The 1 company I spoke to wanted to put the tank in the back  & I didn't want to give up the space. Or I can't remember the location underneath, but it wasn't pretty.
At least now they have made the tanks to fit in diferent positions & be less intrusive.

Well mines just turned over 154,000ks with no probs, but mine only has 135kw 360Nm and i tow a 1.3t campertrailer in 5th gear :)
Mines only the medium upgrade, a mate has a 130 Def that has been chipped from new, with 180,000ks with no probs.

When you upgrade the intercooler, how does the bigger cooler fit in there?

it's the torque with 360nm ur still under the gearboxs safe limit.

From all accounts the R380 and LT230 are pretty strong, it's why rock crawlers use them, there are heaps of D2s and Fenders out there with the intercooler and chip upgrades and haven't had any dramas, just got to be aware of your axles when your on the go pedal ;)

There is room in there and they fit well, more so in the Disco than the Defender.
