Get a spacer made up - cheaper than a new shaft dude!

you said that you went std + 2"...correct
and you said that the shaft had slid out a further 1"..
food for thought b4 you go spacing or remaking the shaft......
how old where the springs in the truck b4 replacing? most likely they had sagged especially in the rear anywhere up to 2" below std height....so they mark on the tail shaft that you are looking at to say is 1" out further, that mark may have infact been up to an inch to far in due to sagged springs so therefore the 1" out now could be taken from a point that was infact 1" in so... the tailshaft could be anywhere.
so satisfy your self unbolt the flange plate on the back of transfer case and simple slide the shaft out untill it is about to come appart i think you will find that there will be ample of shaft available to handle and articulation you can get.
People run ( as i did on my old 60 though i rotated diffs ect) soa conversions which is about 5" lift spring thickness + diff thickness, they still runm on the orig tailshaft, all be it on a crook old angle that eats unis for breakfast!!
