Hi Ryno,

The best I've found for my coily (bought new) after 100,000 kms is as follows :

Castrol Magnatec for the engine
Mobil 80w90 heavy duty gear oil for gearbox, T/case and diffs.

This is after having tried several brands and mix-matching Castrol and Mobil oils. I ran Mobil 4x4 oil in the engine and Castrol 75w90 oil in the gearbox at one stage but wasn't real happy with either.

hope this helps

Havn't done the gear oils yet (very soon) but I have always sworn by Penrite engine oil, I use HPR15 in the sierra and my V8 commodore.

i run penrite 10/50 in my sierra 1298 motor and75/80 in all the gearboxes under the bonnet of mine it says to run 10/40 in the motor but its also written in french and spanish or something ,its pretty hard to find 10 40 any where so im guessing 10/50 is best but id like to know from someone more experienced also if u drive more full on or under load like heaps of soft sand driving i imagine 20/60 may b the go hm

I just changed to castol edge 10/60 for the GTi motor in the zook to try and sort out some noisey lifters. So far it seems to be working well.

ok so ive recently toped up my engine oil with penrite 15/60 and the motors runing a bit quieter and i had a look at the mobil and penrite sites and they both recomend a 15 /50, 15 ,something ,oil so i think ill do an oil change to- 15 /60 soon also on the bak of the 10 -50 penright bottles it says european spec so i hope this info is usefull ,alltho its not about dif oil like watnot, was asking. Ive got 75 80 gear oil in my diffs and i think theyre good cheers and hapy new years and stuff

Or you could check your manual.

I'm gonna try some redline oil for my transfer case when I put the new gears in, expensive but worth it cause it takes bugger all.

castrol gtx3 15w/40 in the engine, diffs no idea mechanic did them last service but it should be something similar to transfer, castrol 80w/90 heavy duty in the t-case with low range 4.9 gears

change engine oil every 5000 - 8000
