Grab yourself a copy of "Dirty Weekends" , its got a couple of places that will suit your needs, user friendly as well (even my wife can navigate with it!)

Have a look at Neurum Creek Bush Retreat- it's only about 15 minutes away from Woodford. They have a great website which is helpful when choosing a campsite. They also have both powered and unpowered sites, great facilities and also allow campfires.

It's a real family friendly place and great for the kids to roam around or ride their bikes.

I've recommended this place to other people who are new to camping or like a few creature comforts to "break the missus in".

hey mickey0211,
most of the places already mentioned like bigriggen, neurem crk and the deer park are nice spots, but all accessable by 2wd. the 4wd parks would be your best bet if you only want 4wd access. maybe go alittle further south and try sundown nat. park near stanthorpe, gaurantee you won't get a 2wd into burrows water hole and the rats nest.

Is it hard 4wd or just not suitable for 2wds?

Charlie Moreland National Park is good, but accessable by 2wders as well.

wouldn't say hard, but definately unsuited for 2wds. very slow going, rangers drive around in L4. been a while since i was there last, remember it being pretty bumpy, check the trips and touring section cause a few boys went there not to long ago, about a month ago from memory.
