Hi all,as most of you have probally read in the calling all ford owners thread I have just become the proud owner of 03 TD Courier dual cab totally stock and warned you about the dumb questions well here's number 1,,,
Anyone out there know if I can get a set of BFG A/T in 245 75/16 to fit on the std 6in rims or should I go 7 or 8? Also will they fit ok under the guards without too much rubbing. It will be getting some suspension work eventually but was hoping to do it a bit down the track.
I suppose I should really change my avatar

Hi jeep get rid of the Mazda cheese cutters and replace with 265\70\15 which is the optional size that Mazda offered then. I run this size on my 01 Bravo with better steering and lighter too. I sport 31\10.5\15 Mickey Thopson MTZ muddies for all my off road work. I also screwed my standard torsion bars up 10mm as they had sagged abit and I've had no rubbing probs. The truck now runs an Ironman suspension kit front to rear.

Thanks Oldfella.I was kind of looking at going 15's for a much better tyre choice. The only reason I was asking about the 245/16 is that I have a set in garage off my old suburban that have done just under 10 000 k's seems a shame to just let them sit there.

My alloy wheel of choice for the Courier/Bravo is 15x7 ROH Monsoon.
My tyre of choice for the Courier/Bravo is 31x10.5 R15
They look great and just clear the front mudflap. 31's are also one of the most common and cheapest sizes to buy. :D

Brett one thing you must keep in mind is the fact when in rough terrain, the alloy wheels can break  . I ve spoken to a few people who have run both aftermarket and OE alloys only to one or 2 break on a trip so they end up going back to steel rims.

Oldfella, I have never seen a broken alloy wheel...but I too, have heard of it happening. I was at a talk by Vic Widman at BBM, Kings Park last year (I think) and someone asked the steel or alloy question.... Vics reply was that, in all his travels he had bent 1 alloy wheel, but every time he had to get his spare down off the back door or roof rack....he thanked god it was a lighter alloy rim.
Horses for courses...I guess.
Jeep Freq was inquiring about fitting 15" wheels to an '03 Courier. This model came out with larger rear brake drums than the previous model. The common fitment for Couriers and Bravos prior to '03 was a 'nissan' offset steel wheel - '10mm positive', I think (had some for my '90 B2600). This offset does not fit on an '03+. I saw a few guys running a 'toyota' offset wheel and had the tyres hanging out, what looked to be, 50 to 60mm out side the guards.
My solution was to go alloy. Still was able to run the popular 31x10.5 r15 size and the ute looked tougher than running 16" with a lower profile tyre :D

Thanks everyone lots to think about here. From what I've been told Brett is spot on. If I stick to steel I'll have to go 16 due to the rear drum size but a 15 alloy will fit. Go figure??
I too am having the problem deciding what size tyres to fit. I am very interested in fitting the 31 10.5r15 but am concerned about the frt tyres then rubbing the frt bumper flares any thoughts. my ride is a 10/04 d/cab courier t/diesel at the moment running 235/75x15 terra tracs on 15x7 sunrasias.how did you fair with it all jeep freq?
i got 15" sunnies on my ute its a 99 courier with 31x10.5 witch scrubed out bad till i got the 2" lift the rear drums are allmost size 4 size fit but they do go on the only prob i can see is that over time with the water siting between the rim and drum it might rust out so i just pull off the rim and inspect it from time 2 time hopeing to catch any rust b4 its a real problem i went this because the cost differance is say bout 50 bucks for a steel rim or what 200 for an alloy 1

What size 7 or 8's? Do I do the lift first and see what I can fit?? aghhh too many decisions and not sure wich is the right one??

hi guys, just bought an 01 td dual cab courier which was running 235/70/16s, bought a set of sunnies and transferred the tyres of the hilux which are 31/10.5/15s, only needed to cut a little out of the plastic bumper until i get a bar for it and rubs a little on full lock on the inside which would easlily be solved without to much lift. Havnt had a chance to wind up the torsion bars yet, when i do ill let you know
p.s anybody done any good mods on one of these as i have searched but come up with very little?

Hey Jackal my 31's rubbed on the mud flap until I wound the bars up then replaced the suspension front & rear with ironman gear with foam cell shcks front & nitro rear.

My 2000 courier has 31's on 15x7 alloys, Sunitomo mudders, cheap, and not half bad either, saw the review in 4wd monthly, ( long time ago ) and thought why not ...
EFS suspension fitted, and i must say very happy with them, reasonably priced aswell.
i've wound the front up about 20mm, any more makes it too damn stiff, and you just keep lifting wheels in the air.
but i've never scrubed the tyres, at LCMP, black duck or cityview, or any other tripshttp://web.aanet.com.au/karma_33/frd_front_01.JPG
