Does anyone know how hard it is to put hilux diffs under a zook with the z link steering or mq diffs how does everything line up and whats the better option and easier option?

There is a mob up here (townsville) called kwari motors (sp) and they do a complete hilux diff and coil conversion for sierras. Could try looking them up and asking them.

yeah ok, ill have a look on google for them, im not in QLD witch is why i was looking at a diff change and some bigger flex:truck: from what i hear thats a no go in qld if you want your truck on the road?

I'm pretty sure they engineer their kit, but they do the work though.
What do you mean by z-link? If you are refering to the j-arm setup of the lux then you can just run a flipped arm for crossover steerin and do away with the j-arm altogether.
If you are refering to the draglink being bent into a "z" shape then Im pretty sure you wont get it engineered. There is a fairly large school of thought that they are dangerous too. Crossover steering is so easy to set up, I dont know why you'd even consider a dodgy z-link IMO. Hi steer is better again from a clearance perspective but can get pretty exxy.

I don't reckon they do as I think you'll find you can't do it legally in QLD

Well I bought my zook off a guy who used to work there and it's mod plates are from them and he told me about the hilux coil conversion they do, I only assumed they would be able to engineer it not certain.
Obviously hilux diffs are wider than zuk diffs , which gives you a wider track , but to make this work properly you need to upgrade tyre size as the diff pumpkin clearance would be low. Then if you go patrol diffs they are wider again and you have the same problem , tyre size needs to be taller to give good diff pumpkin clearance , so then you run into the problem of gearing. Bundeera diff housings line up with the rear of the zuk tailshaft better than the hilux diff , as it is central in the housing and having the tailshaft angle two ways can cause vibration if not set up correctly , if you are going to do it you will need to move the diff housing to allow for larger tyres not to fowl on the body so you might need to extend wheelbase and do some chopping of body parts. Both types of diffs swing in a larger arc on the steering so you need to keep tyre clearance in mind , also the longer the trailing arm the more travel you will get. Tailshaft angle is critical also because your uni's will bind at a certain angle so this needs to be taken into consideration as CV tailshafts are desirable for extended road use , but you can use cardinal joints instead but with the diff change the tailshafts become very short on the rear. Hilux tailshaft flanges bolt up to wide track suzuki flanges also , See how you go , Cheers Paul.

Just because it has a mod plate doesn't make it legal. Ask your Transport Department first.

ok, i now have some hilux diffs, but how do i fit them with ease?what is involved?
Few issues to consider , I take it you drive a shorty so the first problem will be tail shaft angle as the hilux rear runs a centre pumpkin and your zuk output is off centre , thus unless you lengthen your wheel base a little you will have one short rear tailshaft , also you have to combat tail shaft vibration and uni's binding , are you staying leaf sprung , then you might need to move spring perches / saddles , if you do probably better to get zuk one's which will be the right thickness for your springs , also you will need to rotate the centre to point somewhere at the transfer to allow for uni angle's , also rear shock mounts might need tweaking to fit shock , and the rear brake line will have to be lengthened to allow for more flex , and there's more , if your tailshaft flange doesn,t fit the hilux bolt pattern , redrill the flange , with new hole's , to bolt tailshaft up , also you need to check your U-bolts , they might not fit your diff tube and or be too short , therefore the bottom plates might need tweaking or replacement as well , Cheers Paul.
