Trading the FreestyleCab Bravo in for a new Triton VR next week and took it in to Bathurst Mazda to get the "diagnosed by a local mechanic" turbo bearing looked at....(couldn't live with myself if I traded it with a known problem)
A local mechanic was sure it was the turbo.
Bathurst Mazda said they have never had one fail and it was probably just a gasket.
It really did sound like a bad turbo bearing...an intermittent rough high pitched whine...I was prepared for the worst but it turned out to be a warped exhaust manifold.
They took it off, machined it and put in back on with some new gaskets and problem solved.
I quizzed the to service manager at Bathurst and he said this has happened to a few Bravos.
Something for other B2500 owners to look out for.
