I was looking at buying a sierra and one of the problems with it is that the fan for the heating and cooling is broken. Does anyone know how hard this would be to fix, or how much? Has anyone had a similar problem?

Easy fix mate just unbolt the engine fan and replace it with a thermo fan, they come in kit form and will be better for offroading also. Just remember to turn them of before going through deep water otherwise you could burn out the motor as they are not strong enough to withstand turning in water.

do you mean the heater/ cooler for inside the fan, if so just have to remove the dash and check out why its not working, but first check if its just a fuse broken.

ALso, cut a hole in the side of the heater box big enough to get a household vacuum hose into, and clean it out. that will help its efficiency.

Switch it on. If you can't hear the fan running, check the fuse, otherwise change the fan motor. Cheap at a wreckers, same as any other suzi. Not worth trying to repair the old one for something thet'll cost you $5.
If you can hear the fan running, but no heat- check the cable connected to the 'tap' on the firewll, could be out of adjustment or broken.
