Hey, I was wondering if anybody had put in a dual batt sys in a disco 1.
The main problem I can see at this stage is where to put the second batt under the hood? There just isn't enough spare space. The only way I could see it working would be to shift the jack & air intake nossel and fit a tray there. I think this would also mean shifting the coil, but to where?

Any help or tips would be helpfull.

i fitted one in the position your talking abouton the passenger side front, all i did was to cut half the trumpet off the air box :computer: and removed the little jack and the cradle that holds the jack ,best to fit a battery with sunken in terminals this works well for clearance from bonet for the terminals.
hope this helped

Thanks Hamish.

I figured this was the case. Did you have to run the cables back to the fire wall & around to the first batt or could you go under the radiator?
What type of system did you install? I have been shopping around and they all pretty much look the same on paper.

for your dual battery system try traxide tronics, the sc40 will do your job, as for disco batt position, that frontleft corner is the only under bonnet spot, but you can only fit a small battery if you go deep cycle, you would get a 660 cca starting batt in there, move the coil back near the shock tower, and extend the pwr steer res aft and to the right a bit, run the cables across in front of the radiator, behind the grille.

The best way to fix the air intake issue is to fit a snorkel as the intake is on a different side therefore opening up the space to it the battery in. Cutting it off makes dust and water ingress worse, but its a short term fix so you can fit the battery in. Matt
