Hi Mr 4WD Monthly,

What has happened to the CD that was on the front of the mag. Hasn't been on the last 2 and there has been no explanation as to why.

There was some great movies on those CDs & also some helpful hints from Roothie.
Be good to see them come back, I reckon they were a real winner.

Thanks for the comments on the CDs guys, glad you liked 'em - 'cause we actually liked putting them together.

The door isn't totally shut regarding the CDs. Bascially, if we sell a heap more magazines because they had the CDs on the cover, then we'll go ahead and whack 'em on the cover again. In the publishing game, unfortunately it takes around six months to get sales figures back, so at the moment, we don't know if sales have increased in line with our investment. In short, we're not sure if they're economically viable.

So the jury is still out on that one. But some of the things that you guys liked on the CDs, we're looking at putting on the website - so stay tuned.

In the mean-time, keep the shiny side up!

Cheers,

Yeah the CD's were good viewing - but if they are availble through the main website then I suppose that's pretty cool - And I supposeit's cheaper, faster to distribute and encourages traffic to the mian site rather than just to the forum ;)

Yeah I was wondering what happened to those CDs. They were bloody great. But then you gotta look at it from a business point of view. The mags are bloody fantastic even without the CDs!

I'd love to see more bush mechanic stuff though :)

CD's were great I collected them all... so far as I know, very informative and great footage, just got to get me some of the real videos's. On that subject, why don't the publishers start producing the video's on DVD's so that the great footage and sound stays crystal clear?? I have an Off-road 2000 video from landcruiser Mountain Park which is nearly worn out in bits, so I am reluctant to pay forty odd dollars for videos which are going to eventually bite the dust.
Just wondering if there was any chance

My thoughts exactly Bikie. I wouldn't pay a cent for a bloody video, they wear and tear and right from the start they're not great quality. Surely it wouldn't be difficult to get them onto DVD?

Not to mention the cool coasters they make on the desk with the 4WD Monthly logo on them...... ;)

But even if the cd, or as a DVD, with some good footage etc was available from the web page for $20 + p.h or free with a subscription, Im sure would be a viable option

Every scene 4WD Monthly watermarked so any pirating still shows where it came from, ... any publicity is good publicity... ;)

Yeah it'd be good to see those CD's again, I was a big fan of them, like most people were.

So I guess they didn't increase sales if they haven't stuck the CD's back on?

I still have all of the CDs from the older mags & still enjoy watching them, especially the clip of the 80 series.

Maybe we can petition to get the cd's back too ;D ;D

Don't like your chances.
From what I understand the cost of production was higher than the increase in sales.

Surely they can give us one every now and then though :o

At least with the cd it gave the person that only ever reads the mag a chance to see the real thing maybe get into 4wdriving or going out to buy the video either way in the long run the mag and 4wdriving wins
