Hi,
Does anyone no how to setup a duel transfercase on a zook and how easy it is? what type of transfers should be used and how much it might cost? or is it easer to drain the bank accound and get rockhoppers?

better off with gears. way less work and money. you can get gears cheaper from the us.
i imagine your talking about running 2 zook t cases into each other.
im running a rodeo 4x4 gearbox off my engine then into a 1L case with 4.88 diff gears. after you have made up all the new crssmembers as you case will be moved around yo wil then have to link the 2 how ever you like, mine is 2 different unins welded together i rodeo and one 1L. also im not running suzi engine so you wound have to find a box with a transfer in it. i can get some picks if you want.

i was thinking of a zook transfer and a hilux because i have an old transfer in the shed or 2 hilux transfers because i have heard of this before! and i would love some pics! what motor are you running? i wanted to slam my old commodore V6 in like the scat attack but after reading some postes about bigger motors making the zooks to front heavy i havent looked anymore at it

cant see how LOL! looks good, but painful! is that front shaft thats lovely RHS, did that have to be longer and the rear shorter? or is the standard tcase in the same place and the other one where it fits? and are they boath zook cases? im guessing u run huge rubber?
soz i just re read your other post one roedea t case! soz my mistake! do you think hilux t cases are a better option then zook?

ive never had anything to do with lux cases but id imagine there stronger. was juts reading up on outers and there is some good info in the suzuki section. the zuzi tcase has been mover back bout 250/300mm.
the box section shaft is only there caus the one that was made originaly for it was a little to short and used to pop out every now and again.(scary). the rear shaft is about 300 long. yeah im running 36s on a full bodied zook so its got ok size rubber. id realy liek to get 6.1 trail to8ughs in the second t case. that would be low.:)

just use gears in the Sierra T/Case. With dual cases in a SWB you end up with wacky length drive shafts and the rear one is very short. You are also adding more weight and more things to go wrong. A set of gears willset you back less than a $1000 with basically no hassles to fit them and you get better gearing IMHO compared to the dual cases

i agree with grimbo. as you can see a lot mor work for duels and more stuff to break.

ok thanks guys i will just leave it as standard now, i want to put 2" springs under it first then i will think about rockhoppers when i get some bigger rubber thats for the tips and the helpful pics!

Ok sorry to hijack the thread but what rockhopper gears would suit what diameter tyres? I was hoping to fit 32x10.5x15" centerpedes but can't figure out which gears to get. I emailed suzisport but they are slack and not emailing me back. Should I get the stage one 12% reduction in high or the stage three 25%reduction in high? I would like close to standard gearing and the simex's are 33.3" in diameter.

Mate I've got stg3 Rockhoppers in mine with 31x10.5x15" Maxxis Mudder Buckshots and I turn them easally behind a pretty much stock 1.3. I love them and they are awsome in the slow stuff offroad, slower than walking pace in 1st gear lowrange and I can take off in 5th gear lowrange!!!:waycool:

But what revs does it doo at 100km/h? Keeping in mind the zook is my daily driver I bought so I don't have do drive my V8 to workm hence it must do 100km/h and not chew buckloads of fuel at the same time. I have a GTi motor so turning them wont be a big drama, more so keeping drivability.

It drives fine at 100km/h and does about 3500-3700rpm (speedo's been broken for some time). Its also my daily driver and I use to drive 600km/week and chewed bugger all juice!!!! Just remember that the reduction to high range is designed to comphensate the larger tyres but the biggest gain is in low range and thats when all the fun begins!!!!!:thumb:

So with tyres a little bigger than yours say simex centerpedes 31x10.5x15" (32.2" diam as apposed to your 30.3") stage 3 gears would probably give me about 3000-3250 at 100km/hr. That's what I get now with standard gears and 235/35/15's so that's excelent. Thanks alot, you've made my mind up. Oh and sorry once again for the highjack.

joe from fourplay off road seems to use the vitara motor and gearbox combo (with the vitara transfer case) and put a sierra transfer case behind that. It seems to work and keeps it all zook

Thats some horendous work in the photos. I hope thats just a farm hack, not work someones paid for!
The thin box section lowering the transfer case mounts.
The extra stick trying to gouge a hole in your leg
The booty fab square thin wall shaft- oxy cut to length
The craptastic jackshaft- bet that balances up well
Dont worry about cutting off the front output section of the front case- the front shaft will do it for you!
Spot me a mount that's not bent or 'custom fabbed' out of alignment.
