For any Xplorer owners out there, I got these from an American site. I'm putting them here as I know that they can be hard to get. I've put in the conversions that I needed for mine.:truck:

Good to hear from you & see another 1 :truck: on here, there's a few of us on here & if you do a search or look in the Ford Owners thread you'll read a bit about whats on here about the underrated Explorer.
Have fun & chat to you later.:thumb: :D

hey guys, hoping you can clear up something on the explorers for me....

i have heard that the front end of them is not strong enough to support a bullbar properly, more so on the older models (like urs steelo), and that you can't fit a winch to them either...

how much truth is there behind this....

thx in advance

Not that I'm aware of & you'll see 2 out of 3 have bullbars on them. As for the winches, I'll have to admit that I personally haven't seen 1 as yet but I think 1 of the guys from WA has fitted 1.
The Explorer chassis came from the American Ranger:truck: truck/ute so you'd think that it would be as strong as anything else out there.
Have a look at the other Explorer & Ford threads & you'll get some dam good ideas & advice.:thumb:

Hope this little bit of info helps out.:D

Hi, Ive only had my Explorer a couple of months and love it,
She is a great tool but im having trouble finding anyone who can help
with a bullbar and suspension lift because as soon as i mention
the word Explorer to any 4x4 shops they wont even give me the time of day! Come to think of it any accessories? Great to find others out there! '99 Explorer XLT sohc 4.0L'

here is a place that say they do bullbars for ALL makes and models
Vehicle and 4WD Accessories :: Roof Racks || Towbars || Shelving || Accessories for Utes Cars Vans and 4WDs (http://www.allvehicleaccessories.com.au/)
i am still waiting for a reply i have emaild 3 companys none have replied yet only been 2 days tho, see what next week brings
i know that TJM and ARB both dont make explorer bars at least not for a 97

as for suspention lift you might have to get some parts from usa,

i think the problem in aus is that everyone has underratted the explorer. Ford have always made stong cars and i dont think the explorer is an exeption.
the bigest let down on mine is the stock road tyres, lol,

Your not the only 1 with the problem, there's a few 4WD shops that are all friendly till you mention "Explorer" then all they tell you to do is buy something else & generaly walk away instead of trying to help you. Most specialised suspension places will help you out though.:D

be careful with getting stuff from the U.S and A. there are a few slight differences between them and aussie models. dont know about suspension stuff, mainly electrical stuff
