I have been told I need to fill the torque converter befor fitting my Auto bax back in. I have also been told I don't need to do this. As I have to order the oil in is it ok to fit it all dry or is this a big mistake?

gudday,
i'm no mechanic, but every auto i've done, i've done a few, i always put the converter into the box, half fill the converter with trany fluid, and holding the converter in the center, spin it making sure it goes home in the box. then fit the box. fill the box with fluid, run it till warm, then check fluid level.
i'm sure i'll be corected, but i hope that helps...
cheers

That was the first advice I was given. I spent all today on the phone and driving around trying to get the transmission fluid as I need a full synthetic. It was available a week ago but today when I wanted it nothing. So I will now have to leave it till next weekend as I'm waiting on the oil.
2 Days off work to finish and both days now spent running around chasing things that didn't arrive.

Only thing special with this box is it's guts, torque converter and the oil it uses. It is an auto just a very heavy duty full custom one.
