Hi guys, I have 15x7 sunraysia's on my sierra but I want to go wider. I have heard that Dihatsu, f100 (not sure which year) and Jeep style rims will suit but I don't know which offset is the best. I asked one local tyre shop for 8 inch rims to suit a sierra and they said 7 inch was all they can order. So I need to know which to ask for to get 8 inch or wider rims, I don't care what they look like and would prefer steel but don't mind as long as they aren't weak bling style mags. So which do you guys recommend? I want them to stick out further preferably not in further than the ones I have already.

I'm in townsville and I would rather not have to modify the rims if I can avoid it.

Speedy make a 15x8 with the required 139.7 PCD with a positive 7 offset, would these suit? I can't find the stock offset for the zooks if anyone knows it, post it.

why do you need 8" rims?

Cause I don't want to squeeze 10.5inch wide tyres onto a 7inch rim if I can avoid it and steel wheels are cheap as chips.

10.5 inch tyres work so much better on a 7" rim. They allow you to air down better. I had 31 x 10.50 on my Sierra with 7" rims and they work great and currently have 33 x 10.50 on 7" rims on my Patrol. I wouldn't consider going to an 8" rim for tyres that wide.

having a wider rim isn't going to do anything about making them stick out further. For that you need different offset on your rims. The amount a tyre sticks out doesn;t change with different size rims. With your 7" rims the tyre is 10.5" wide, on an 8" rim the tyre is still 10.5" wide. Only by changing your offset will you achieve a wider stance

I thought that putting the minimum size rim with a tyre eg:10.5inch on 7inch would run a higher risk of rolling the tyre off. I only thought of an 8 inch rim cause the recommended rim size was in the middle of the minimum and maximum being 8inch. If you think it's not so then stuff it I'll keep my rims I have now. Would a 10.5 inch tyre on the 7inch rims with a 2 inch body and 2 inch suspension lift rub on anything?

less likely to roll the tyre off the rim.

Would a a 10.5 (I take it you mean a 31 x 10.50) rub with 2" suspension and 2" bl on a 7" rim rub, probably. Depends on backspacing of the rim. But generally yes it will rub but you can hammer back the seams on the front and afew other little bits and pieces to make them fit easily enough

I was thinking simex 32x10.5x15 centipedes with rockhopper transfer case gears. It wont rub on the back because its a flatbed ute chop but I can live with a litte percussion instrument work on the front gaurds :D

Disagree with you there on one point, and Ive read it before and been told before but if you run a wider rim you generally get a better contact patch with the tire on the road/mud/rock as the tire isnt being squeezed in because the rim is too skinny. Yes going to a wider rim might not give you more clearance but generally when you do go a wider rim you get a bigger offset which I think what GRPABT1 is trying to achieve. I have also run down to 8-10 psi with my Sierra on 15x8" rims and havent had problems I just dont think the weight of the car is enough to pop a bead unless you are doing some hard cornering or comps

Rim Width Range
Because tires have flexible sidewalls, a single tire size will fit on a variety of rim widths. A tire's rim width range identifies the narrowest to the widest rim widths that the tire is designed to fit. The width of the rim will influence the width of the tire. A tire mounted on a narrow rim would be "narrower" than if the same size tire was mounted on a wide rim

The industry rule of thumb is that for every 1/2" change in rim width, the tire's section width will correspondingly change by approximately 2/10".

king wheels do a 15x8 rim with a fair bit of offset.

Hey GRPABT1
The rims on my zook now are f250 rims 15x7" i have 31s and they work a treat. Check your tyre stores for later model f250 rims and ask for the biggest offset they can find. Being f250 they seem to have a wild offset for a zook. I did this and my wheelbase widened 2 inches a side. Good luck with it.:D

hmm, i had 15x7's on my zook on 31x10.5 tyres, just got a set of procomp rockcrawler rims, they are 8'' wide and work so much better offroad on my zook, not too pricey either at about 110 per rim, would reccomend them to anyone.
they have a website with online shop too. Pro Comp 4x4 (http://www.procomp.com.au/Default.htm)

I believe that 8" a good fitment for a 10r (31/10.ror15)

it will stop th tyre flexing as much on road and make th vehicle more stable offroad.

Running an 8" wheel also opens ur options for the future as far as tyre size goes.

11.50 is not legal on a 7" rim so if ur thinkin about wider tyres in th future 8's will be a minimum.
