G'day all,
Here's the scenario. Hopefully we should soon be looking at buying the new triton. I'm rapped and am wondering how you guys have found yours to go off-road?
Having said that, could you guys suggest to me what modifications to start off with that will give me abit more capabilities off-road...
Thanks,
Daniel
Do a quick search on the forums mate, theres plenty of threads / info out there on the new Triton :thumb:

just like any car, lift, tyres.. but dont forget to option the factory locker!!.. brilliant in my opinion
trade your tyres in straight away for some better ones.. 265/75/r16 makes the speedo work right too

What Tri said.
Order the locker (with the massive warranty) before Mits realises it's waaay too cheap.
Mine has been fantastic off-road, couldn't ask for more and haven't regretted my purchase for a millisecond since I bought it. Locked, it will take you just about anywhere you can get clearance.
Great truck.

Last weekend I went up a hill (no biggie you may think)
an experienced rider on an 06 DR650 with dunlop D606 knobbies required 3 tries.
Really..

Yes get the locker when you order the car, Mitsubishi just tend to shake their heads when you ask about a retro fit and refer you on to some diff places they know of locally:mad: .
Waiting with interest to see what comes out with regards to shocks, ours pitches back and forwards slightly when you pull it up at the lights.
Having said that we took ours up a slimey clay hill the other day with some other well kitted out cars and ours stood up to the test even with the stock tyres on it. (thank christ i couldnt have handled the ribbing otherwise, they were taking bets on where we could get stuck)

No, no locker, i am still kicking myself, i bought it off the showroom floor so i suppose that was part of my problem. I have also heard they are set to increase in price, one story i heard was $1000.00, dont know how much truth is in that though

Getting back to the original Question. I have an Arb canopy/roof rack, Tow pack and cruise.
I will be looking at shockers soon, quickly followed by driving lights (low beams good but not over impressed with high), bull bar TJM classique maybe, then by about that stage the tyres, which i have found reasonable enough, will be at the stage when they need replacing.
I'm thinking this should give the overdraft a bit of a work out .

I agree on the high beam. I'm looking to get a couple of Lightforce combination lights. I need some ladder bars and roof racks too. (I have a soft tonneau cover).
I haven't heard of a price rise for the diff lock. Mine was thrown in as a last minute deal as they had one in the yard with a diff lock fitted already.
From the stock list they had, I would say about 80% had them. I think they are realising that most people will want them now they know about them so most are coming in with them fitted.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Yeah, im making sure that we are getting ours with the locker.
What i wanna do is start off with a snorkel and then later on grab a bullbar and winch.
Then a bit of a lift kit. Whats the highest you can go without changing major components?
If i go with a set of tires, would it be worthwhile to get them on new wheels or not? because we are going with only the GLX model. Having said that, could someone suggest a tire to me for someone who goes offroading about 15-20 times a year... Can you get away with a cheap set from SimeX ???
Thanks in advance guys.
