View Full Version : spare wheel carrier (I want to make my own, but can't use the search function!)

does anyone know any threads or web sites that show how to make a spare wheel carrier, thinking of building one but dont know where to start. cheers!

Start with a solid rear bar to mount it on, a lot of guys use second hand trailer wheel hubs for the bottom swivel and just a plain bearing or bush for the top.
Put a fixed bracket near at the top going to a solid part of the truck as well.
Look for a solid closing latch at a hardware shop that will secure it well to the bar when closed.
Sorry, I dont know any websites but search in Build ups etc. theres been a few made and posted up over the years and they were pretty good.
