I am in the market for a new Fuel sender unit for my GQ Ute, you can only repair so many times and it has died again.
What I am trying to find out is : does anyone make a fuel sender unit to suit or is genuine Nissan the only option?
I have asked the same in my build up thread but no response so far.
Please help if you can.
Cheers

Genuine Nissan is your only option! But they aren't too bad in the $$ market.

I was hoping you weren't going to say that, but I spose I will just have to bite the bullet and give Nissan some more hard earned cash.
Last time I asked it was in excess of $300.

Goh-ohlly!!! I don't think I've ever paid that, shop around the Nissan places!! At that rate it might be better to buy it thru Melbourne and get them to post it out to WA! They come in a pretty well packed box, and they all have the wiring for the low fuel level light on them now, but that won't hurt even if you don't need it; & postage shouldn't be more'n $10-$15 or so!!

Paddy,
Where in the Pilbara are you? I might be able to assist with transport if you get it ex Cairns and it's not too big. I'll be in Perth and Paraburdoo on Friday, all going well. :thumb:

Peter, Mine has the low fuel on it so maybe thats the extra? Hope I can get it cheaper than $300.
TOPNDR, cheers for the offer but unless your stopping in Karratha and I buy it from your local dealer it is probably more trouble than it's worth.

Sorry if i highjack here a bit, but paddy what has happened to it? Cause the one on my dad's GU ute has failed too, and so did a few at my work. Just wondering if its the same thing. All his does is the sub-tank light comes on on the dash and when you hit the switch, it just doesnt work.

It's a story that goes back a way but inside the tank there is a plastic 'surge' tank attatched to the return line that is normally fixed in place, For whatever reason this had fallen off and the floating tank broke the float arm off. The first repair I didn't realise the tank was free but the second time I cut the tank to bits to get it out as it is bigger than the hole in the fuel tank and now no more floating bits to break the arm, but the damage has been done and the clips that hold the arm in are missing and the arm has a lot of play in it and keeps breaking the wire off the 'switch' and the little copper finger that contacts the variable switch bit is also partly broken.
Mine has a low level light as well and this is a different switch and that still works fine so all I have been doing is keeping an eye on the kays and when the light comes on it's time to transfer fuel from the other tank or go to the servo.
I hope this helps some but I think it is just part of the 'Paddy's curse' where all this strange 'never heard of that before' stuff only happens to me.
Feel free to tell me that it is a common thing and the 'curse' is just my imagination, LOL.
Cheers
