Hi,

Does anyone know were i can find after market wheels for my R51 Pathfinder?

I have looked every where and the best i can find in a 17 inch is from Speedy wheels which i have been advised are still in production.

I know there are a few in USA, but i am abit iffy on getting wheels from there as i have read about a few problems with them not fitting 100% even when the stud pattern is correct.

This quest has had me stuffed for the last 3 months and im getting no where fast.

I was nearly tempted to upgrade the car for a Patrol its anoying me that much.

Any help would be appreciated.

My details are:

2005 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4
PCD: 6/114.3
Bore: 66.1
Offset: 30

Many years ago you could order mags and have almost any stud patten drilled into them, I don't know if this service is still available but it might be worth asking around, I would deal directly with the maker. hope this helps

I also have a new Pathfinder and want to explore some changes to wheels/tyres/suspension to overcome some off-raod limitations when fully loaded (mostly ground clearance issue and strength of std wheels)

Fraser Island was a real pain with less than 15cm clearance at the rear (and that was without the weight of passengers and full fuel). Dropped tyre pressures a lot to get results on the sand, but then a flat/wheel dent on a tree root that should not have been a problem.

I have just started looking into it, but one line of investigation that I was going to consider is going to the 16inch wheels that are on the lower spec models (smaller wheel and higher tyre sidewall to get same overall size).

What are people's experience with this kind of move? Does it give you a lot more choice in wheels and tyres (eg ability go a bit wider) or is the greater flex in the larger sidewall a real set back for on-raod handling?

Also, in the last few months I saw an article (advert disguised as an article) in one of the 4x4 mags about an aftermarket suspension kit for the new Pathfinder. I can't recall which mag or which suspension manufacturer had this. Did anyone else see this?

Epicphoto,

I have been looking for months about this wheel issue and i have been told 16 inch will not work because of the break set up on the up market models, weather this true i dont know.

Any way i seem to have had some success with after market 17 inch rims from USA, they are cheap (Around $180 US each) and there is a resonable amount around the few site i have visited

I got my eye on some but just waiting to hear back from them about postage to Australia

A couple of sites i have had success that you might want to have a look at is

Tires & Wheels - 1010tires.com the absolute tire and wheel authority (http://www.1010tires.com)
Home - Discount Tire Direct (http://www.discounttiredirect.com)

Just to name a few....

Will update once i get them with a photo etc

Terrano,

Yes i remember the days when you could get any wheel you wanted drilled out to suit.

Its a shame this does not happen very often, atleast not in Australia anyway.
